Over my post or the growing realization that so few major moves looks more and more possible with each major signing and rumors of interest in marginal players?

 

Something had happened. A fuse blew and I had gone out of my skull. I became conscious that a steady torrent of obscenities pounded out of me as I screamed.

That's what I was thinking, although the pen signings, other than Diaz seem like the better FA value deals.

 

I was thinking we could even skimp on DH and catcher, so we could devote more money too just SS, RF and SP.

 

I can see the reasoning in spreading the risk out, but I'd rather have seen us sign 3 players at about $30M than 9 at about $10M.

 

I'd rather do one at 30, a few at 15-20 and the rest just fill in as needed. The 7-9 was a big flashing warning sign to all of us. Yikes.

 

It's Bloom's bed that he's making. If it doesn't work out. He's gone.

 

No final judgement until 4/1 tho.

I guess it depends on the market. If there wasn't a lot of high end talent that didn't fit your needs?

 

Sox needed OF, SS, SP. I honestly didn't see them going 30M on either OF or SP. I'm not sure Nimmo is the best fit for the current Sox OF construction. Judge would be, but they weren't outbidding everyone else. The starters that have been signed I didn't project to sign with the Sox either.

I'm talking specifically about this year's needs, in theory, but yes finding 3 FAs that will make about $30M at SS, SP and RF is not really possible.

 

Correa, Judge and Bassit might come closest to $90M/3

 

Maybe Correa, Nimmo and Senga or Bogey, Judge and Senga.

Ward and Song are two pitchers that have been talked about quite a bit here. Very surprising to lose both.
