DFA Barraclough and Llovera. Call up Gambrell and anyone not named Barraclough or Llovera…

Can't you just wait a few days? By then the t-shirts should be printed and distributed to the dozens of DFAed and DOAed relievers Bloom has recycled through the past four years, for our spectating displeasure.

I'm all for this idea.

Maybe Robertson. (I like Guerrero but wonder why they have not promoted him to AAA.)

Pitching call-ups, LGuerrero ICoffey WGonzalez GGambrell AHoppe

I don't believe you know anything about these prospects.

Hoppe has a 7.88 ERA in AA. Isaac Coffey is a soft tosser that would get absolutely demolished by an early callup. Gambrell, age 25, is working himself back from injury and has already thrown more innings this season than all of his minor league career. Wikelman had a 5.14 ERA in High A this spring, but he's ready for MLB? Just two starts ago, he couldn't get out of the 3rd inning against Binghamton.

Just throwing these guys into MLB games isn't going to help their development.

Lmao!

What was the Scouting report on GMaddox years ago? Let me know

What development? Gonzalez is 21 rest of the above are 23 +

Strikeouts to IP are thru the roof, all have swing and miss velocity

I got a great idea, let’s continue to dumpster dive and give games away while older players especially pitchers waste time in the minors

Long time between this rat sighting.

Lmao!

The facts must get in your way of real player evaluation and front office evaluation for that matter

There is an unqualified individual running baseball ops at the moment, it’s evident in trades , waiver wire pickups and overall player evaluation at the Major league level

No starting pitching

No timely hitting

No Defense

No trades to help at deadline

No call ups

Continue on with all the horsesh!t analytics and glass half full scenarios you dream up

If Henry has any b@lls he calls Epstein to clean up this mess you pink hats call an Organization

Yes, all you need to know about a prospect is looking at a boxscore! Great job!

A 2022 10th round draft pick out of Oral Roberts THAT NONE OF YOU KNEW ABOUT PRIOR TO THIS YEAR should be called up because of his k rate even though he's a RHP who barely touches 90 mph. He's not even ready for a callup to WOO let alone a callup to Fenway.

I don't want to read about "unqualified individuals" when I have to keep seeing this kind of drivel posted over and over.

I could find something nice to say about every other poster on here except for that guy. He's the only real troll we have at the moment.

First of all what number is this that the Red Sox have been broomed in Fenway this year? With the biggest series of the year against a team that the Red Sox are fighting for a playoff spot against they showed up for the first game of the series by not having a full team, or at least a pitching staff ready to go, and the result was an embarrassment in more ways than one, and a 13-5 defeat, and things went down hill from there resulting to me in a Well Deserved sweep.

2024 will be status quo. Duvall and Turner will be gone replaced by a couple more to be named veterans on 1 yr deals while we wait for Bloom's prized prospects to arrive and save us.

Regarding prospects, and dealing some before they become big league regulars or busts -- no one wants to give up a Bagwell (Gammons, driving when he found out, pulled over to the side of the road and broke down in tears) -- but the purpose of a deep farm is to constantly replenish the parent club, via promotion or trade capital, and save the owners from themselves from overpaying for free agent busts.

Nowadays, entire departments track and analyze every aspect of a players' development and project potential. However, there's still no stat that measures heart or determination that can predict Dustin Pedroia becomes a borderline Hall of Famer. In six years in the minors, Pedroia had 21 homers; then he hit 21 in one season in the bigs. Ceddanne Rafaela already has 20 this year. But will he even be a better major leaguer than Jarren Duran, who had a slightly better slash line in his five years in the minors?

By some assessments, Blake Swihart's ceiling was Buster Posey...then he wrecked his ankle playing LF. Oakland's Billy Beane made Scott Hatteberg famous by moving him to first base -- where he averaged 1.4 WAR in four years. Nothing ventured, nothing gained...

Boston's pitching staff isn't going to improve on its own (unless Braiser returns to teach everybody his new grip). Some fans are convinced Henry will resume paying for legitimate starting pitchers in their primes. No one is convinced Chaim Bloom will trade prospects. Something -- or someone -- has to give.

My guess is Bloom could figure out how to post correctly, so I'll hand him that.

Got to remember the roster expands to 28 on Friday. No more, no less. You can move guys up and down, but I believe you are still subject to the 10 day minimum rule if somebody is sent down.

Bringing players up to see what they’ve got isn’t so easy anymore.

Yup. I suppose some will want us to DFA Paxton, Turner and Duvall, since they are all good as gone anyway, and we can get a look see at EValdez & Walter, again, and who else? Dalbec?

I think I posted correctly here didn't I?? Maybe Bloom could find a way to qualify for a playoff berth in an expanded format more than once every 4 years??

No to the first point and yes to the second point.

Randy, can't you see how everyone else's posts show up underneath the one they're quoting but yours show up on top of them?

I just think they should fire Bloom and bring in Omar Minaya as CBO and Joe Girardi as manager.

Just fire Bloom. ANY change at the top will be better right now...

... better for the fans, better for the media, better for the players in the dugout, bullpen, clubhouse -- maybe even in the minors, where guys like Dalbec may actually get traded and have a better shot at making the bigs.

Make Cora the interim GM and Varitek the interim skipper -- that will keep the Red Sox semi-relevant for one more month.

Bradford on August: "it was a result of taking the wrong path ... again.

(re. the Astros) "That was the team that made the moves. That was the team that just swept you. That was the team can definitively declare what the Red Sox can't.

'This team, we’re built to win championships and to go deep in the playoffs,' said Houston closer Ryan Pressly."

Story was a disastrous signing, far worse than Sale. Waiting for him to show up, waiting for him to get over injuries...waiting for him to hit for power, to do anything. Waste of money...money that could have been and should have been used toward Betts

...and it took over 6 years of tanking to build this Astros team.

Trying to build a team like them by halfway tanking is more difficult, but it seems upper management thinks ...

At least Story still has time to give something plus. Sale has one year left and has given next to nothing for 4 years of the 5.

4 years

26 starts

4.14 ERA

That's 26 out of a possible 142 starts or 18%.

Story is not off to a better start, but 112 games out of 300 is over 33%, and a .705 OPS is about the same as a 4.14 ERA, IMO.

At least Story knows how to grab a groundball and throw the guy out at 1B.

Q: Would you take Bogaerts back if he was signed for Story's contract? I would, because I don't think for a second that Bogie won't bounce back and become a more productive hitter through his mid-30s.

I'd rather have a steady shortstop who is never hurt with a 17% K-rate than a guy on the IL half the time who looks really athletic whiffing with his 35% K-rate.

I love great D, especially at SS, and my choice now would be neither, but if I had to chose, I'd take the guy who plays 150 games a year. (I'd also move him to 3B or 2B, when we have a SS that is ML ready.)

Fair answer. I'm starting to wonder if they'll shop Mayer... partially because they played Rafaela at short in his first MLB start, and because of the possibility of having to trade top prospects for legitimate rotation help.

Also: major changes are absolutely necessary on defense, and if they still thought they had a shot at the playoffs, why wouldn't they use Rafaela -- regarded in many reports as Gold Glove caliber right now -- in centerfield?
