It comes down to the fight being long AND boring. A bad combination.

So of course to you it doesn’t come down to the one poster being realistic, and the one poster who’s being optimistic doesn’t like it, which is the case in this instance, and facts bear that out. Like you are objective in all of this.

There’s realism and supposition on both sides. But one side does provide more data…

The facts I stated in this case were cold hard facts. More wouldn’t have changed anything.

If you're going to fight endlessly with another poster at least make it entertaining. The ongoing feud between you and moon has no juice. It's just two old cranks yelling past each other with nothing of interest to note.

100% agree. It's a pretty pass when one garrulous poster accuses another garrulous poster of not posting enough!

Had to quickly log in for FREDDY VALDEZ?!?!? Like we were chomping at the bit for some Freddy Valdez action.

Posted

Somebody has to keep Swihart's ghost alive, I guess.

BTW, some other updates beyond Wink:

3.81 Luis de la Rosa (.623 OPS Against)

4.07 Grant Gambell (.758 OPS Against as a SP'er, just promoted to AA)

1.69 at AA (.478 OPSA) in two AA starts.

Who wants that trade back?

Anybody want the Vaz trade back?

The Diekman trade?

Even the Betts trade looks better in 2023, than last year.

Don't want guys like JD or Eavoldi...yup, all about giving others chances. We don't want success.

Everyone on this site wanted JD out the door all season last year, especially in the 2nd half, now letting him go was a massive mistake….

In Bloom's defense, he did not try to deal with the Nationals to get Strasburg on a cheap deal assuming he could recover from his infirmities. Way to check your swing, Chaim

Wait until next year when they’re complaining about how Kike is succeeding for another team and how it was a mistake to let him go…

yeah, good point, he went hard for Kluber...great job!

Yes, Bloom was relentless in pursuing that one year deal…

Is this sarcasm?

Kluber is currently sporting a 6.26 ERA and 1.536 WHIP.

Red Sox are in the basement of the AL East again. Same as last year.

Is anyone still defending Bloom and thinks he's still the right guy for the job?

It’s amazing how much everyone hated the 2022 Red Sox but also clearly thinks letting any of them all go was a huge mistake.

“We should have kept Wacha! We should have kept Eovaldi! We should have kept Vazquez! And Bogaerts and JD!!” Heck, I’ve even heard that we should have held on to Matt Strahm!!

Did everyone sleep though 2022? Because no one seemed to enjoy these guys when we had them. Or were all the problems with that team because of Austin Davis?

No the issue is that Bloom let all those guys walk as FA'S and with the Paxton signing putting the team over the cap we get pretty much nothing in return for all those guys.

First of all, the point about JD is a valid one. Nobody clamored to have him back. But then you had to add in names like Bogaerts and Wacha, which turned this into total ********. Hardly anyone blamed Bogaerts for last year, not sure anyone was happy to lose him. And Wacha, the guy with the 11-2 record and 3.32 ERA? Yeah, right, all of us brainless boobs thought he was a major problem and wanted his ass out of here, no matter how cheap he was!

Not your best work.

But my point about why I didn’t mind re-signing (not from that post)!stands - like Eovaldi sand Sale, he’s hurt all the time. That he went uninsured through June 3 this year didn’t change that.

That’s a better point, but not the one people are making right now…

The injury risk with Eovaldi is significant, no question.

But in the 3 seasons prior to 2022, Kluber only pitched 116 innings. And he's not exactly a youngster. So he was hardly without risk.

And Eovaldi had a lot more upside, I don't think anyone can argue about that.

Cheaper dictated Kluber, and you got what you paid for.
