That's fair, and Cora surely considers the psyche of his players and whether he has confidence in them to do the job.

But do any other fans watch JD methodically flail at and miss low and away breaking stuff every single night and wonder why a coach never runs into the batter's box and grabs his arms to hold him back? At least in BP?

But JD has probably been doing it his whole career, and he's got one of the highest OPS in baseball.

Hitting major league pitching is just incredibly hard to do when the pitchers are hitting their spots.

Hitting any pitching is hard, otherwise there'd be marathon whiffleball or slow-pitch softball games that never end. Getting a "hit" -- even before the berth of big league shifts -- has always been the hardest skill to master in sports.

I think with a good hitter like Verdugo at bat in that situation, you want him to hit the ball hard somewhere. And Verdugo is not an all-or-nothing guy, he uses the whole field.

Colome just made the right pitches.

Almost as if they had a strategy for him…

Is that even legal?

The problem is that we didn't counter-strategy the strategy!

No, and if convicted, Colome can be either sentenced to 5 years in prison or forced two watch two full episodes of “90 Day Fiancé”.

But not both…

Almost there lazy.

I like this post, but just like, for example, 55 percent.

You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched strategies when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is 'never get involved in a land war in Asia' - but only slightly less well-known is this: 'Never go against Cora when a game is on the line!' Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

I did watch Verdugo's at bat. Contrary to the commentary from other talksoxers or any stupid announcers, Colome in fact threw three great pitches, cutters down in the zone, which clearly is Verdugo's weak spot. The last two were in fact below the zone, and Verdugo swung hard at both of them because he's blind down there.

Munoz!!!!????? Is this a joke?

The Sox just scored 11 and 6 runs vs. the Twins while giving up 9 and 9 runs and you think the problem is the hitting?

There is an interesting article today about Martinez hitting issues of late. A middle of the order guy who is in a serious slump does impact our team.

The Twins are a bad team, but they can hit. It doesn't excuse Robles in the 10th though.

Didn't the Twins cut Robles loose? I thought he was their closer but didn't get the job done so we picked him up and he isn't getting the job done here. Small wonder.

Who is against the mvp will die.

Sounding ominous, like a fictional villain. Maybe Skeletor or Darth Vader, but with just a hint of the Ice King from “Adventure Time”…

No. The Sox traded for him.

With MN this year, Robles was had but 2 blown saves in 26 opportunities…

If you make a good post, I can tote it.

Anyone have Orlando's number?

Seabold 31 IP 36K 3ERA. The Player is 25 how much more seasoning does he need, couple more years? Slot the kid in the Rotation move Pivetta to a 7th inning role.

Feltman although low IP in AAA topped out at 98

At some point you have to give the Players you have an Opportunity despite looking at statistics especially when you continue to run out journeyman who cannot pitch

Agreeing with you, here, makes me think I have to reassess my whole thinking process.

It would be nice to be able to make Seabold our 5th starter and use Houck as our new closer.

Yeah, if you start thinking STORK knows better than Bloom, you might as well ditch baseball and become a fly fishing fan.

Seabold

July: 7.56 ERA, 6K, 4BB, 1.80 WHIP

He was injured for a long time. If he doesn't make it to BOS in 2021, it's not all that surprising.

I think we're getting close to the point where we are seeing the team punt the rest of the season.

I disagree.

If Schwarber can handle first base tonight, the Sox are going to have an excellent lineup and improved outfield defense: Kike, CF (OPS .813) ; Schwarber, 1B (1.100); Bogaerts, SS (.881); Devers, 3B (.897); JDM, DH (.868); Renfroe, RF (.817), Verdugo, LF (.791), Arroyo, 2B (.787), and Vazquez, C (.650).

I also don't see any of the starters slacking off, ditto the bullpen. That does not mean they will all pitch great, only that they aren't punting.

If anything, I see players putting a lot of pressure on themselves.

@jcmccaffrey

Cora said he hoped Schwarber could play first base today. No lineup yet but he’s out there at first now
