I'm not touching this one. I might never get out of that abyss.

soemthing tells me if the report comes out and there was a "tell" (see: banging trash can) you would be too curious to not be able to review every pitch of every game in 2018. for your sanity i hope there is no such "tell".

Just to recap — Chris Young tells Gammons he got the Apple Watch sign-stealing idea from when he was with the Yankees, The Athletic story has “multiple sources” saying the Yankees used the video room to decode signs, but no investigation. No reason to look into them. None at all

They also hired Carlos Beltran as a special adviser. He also played for them. The Yankees Cheat Too!

And the Yanks killed it with RISP in 2019. Guilty!

If it turns out that the Yanks cheated too, we will need a year long mea culpa from Jacko.

Not to mention the number of players who were struggling or mediocre with other teams but became offensive stars with the Yankees. Names like Urshela, Voit, Hicks, Tauchman (C'mon. his OPS was .400 points higher than in Colorado!), Grigorius, and Maybin. And really, Aaron Judge is much better at hitting MLB pitching than in AA and AAA? That doesn't raise a question?

This is just a little too suspicious.

We knew they were doing something in 2017. Like the Sox were doing. There’s been no proof, no sources that they did anything beyond when they were reprimanded.

Yeah, in fact, I think it's past suspicious to obvious.

There has been no proof that the Sox did anything in 2018 but you have already condemned them. Hypocrite!!!!!!!

There are 3 sources that say the sox cheated in 2018, AFTER they were reprimanded in 2017. Listen, the slate was wiped clean when the commish came down on the sox and yanks. Any FURTHER use of electronic media, be it for sign stealing or pitch sequence or whatever, would be seriously punished. The Astros did it after the reprimand. The sox are reported to have done the same in 2018.

Of course the Yankees cheated, as did pretty much every other team to some extent or another. Sign-stealing is not limited to the Astros and the Sox.

I'm not saying that the Astros and the Sox don't deserve to be punished. However, the whining from some players of other teams about how they were cheated out of a championship (Yes, CC, I'm looking at you) is rather hypocritical.

jacko, you had Beltran on your beloved squeaky cleaned Yankees . that it self is extremely suspicious.

I'm going to repost the no-longer-cryptic paragraph from Rosenthal's Athletic article: "Early in the 2017 season, at least two uniformed Astros got together to start the process. One was a hitter who was struggling at the plate and had benefited from sign stealing with a previous team, according to club sources; another was a coach who wanted to help."

The whole world now knows that the hitter was Beltran and the coach was his good friend, Cora.

Now let me ask the world: does anyone NOT know who Beltran's previous team was? Anyone? Rob Manafraid?

And this will never be pursued... why? (Answer: because the MLB desperately needs their signature franchise to get back to the World Series, after losing for years to all those cheaters)

And I don't want to hear about how Chris Young's whistle-blowing was a year early, so it doesn't count. That's like the people who say Bonds and Clemens should be in the Hall because they were already great before they juiced... Did they cheat or not?

Calling all hypocrites: Rose set the all-time hit record, then got banned from Cooperstown for betting as a manager... but there's still time to set your Draft Kings lineup -- with one the MLB's top sponsors!

Speculation and ridiculousness. Just like how Big Papi didn’t cheat, right? You guys are nothing but predictable.

The commish fined the Yanks and Sox, sent out a detailed memo, made every manager sign an affidavit and from that point forward threatened massive penalties. There is ZERO proof the Yanks cheated beyond that incident with the Apple Watch. If some comes available, then clearly I’ll change my tune. But until then, speculation is just sour grapes at the penalties coming to the cheating Sox.

Great rebuttal, let's dig back 20 years... heck, make it 40: Oh yeah? Like Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich didn't cheat on their entire families! Oops -- they swapped their entire families.

Nope, sour in this era are just individuals whose teams weren't good enough at getting edge in a time when -- I quote Ken again -- "inside the game, there is a belief that is treated by players and staff as fact: That illegal sign stealing, particularly through advanced technology, is everywhere."

MLBTR...

Commissioner Rob Manfred provided an update on Major League Baseball’s investigation into the Red Sox alleged use of video equipment to steal opponents’ signs during the 2018 season, telling reporters (including Ken Davidoff of the New York Post) that he hoped to have a conclusion reached before Spring Training camps open next week. “I’d like to have this over. Investigations are funny. You think you know what the timeline is, but that’s a day-to-day prediction,” Manfred said.

Let's just pile more s*** on a s***** week. I guess it's better to pull the bandaid off.

That would be very welcome. Let's get it over with and move on.

He has said no players will be disciplined so now we see if there is anything else.

The decision to give all players immunity is a good way to encourage players to do other nefarious things in the future.

Great job!

No way does he get a lifetime ban.

We'll see. MLB has nobody left to punish for the black mark left on 2017 and 2018. Even if the Sox are vindicated, fans will still believe those Series were rigged. I think they are treating Cora as the big baddie in this situation. They are going to sweep him under the rug and pretend that high tech sign stealing will never exist again.

I think it is VERY possible he gets a "lifetime ban" with a chance at reinstatement after 2 seasons. The precedent has been there. Jennry Mejia says hi

Yeah, I suppose - the lifetime ban that isn't a lifetime ban.
