I do not believe they were stealing signs beyond their warning in 2017, at least not using electronic means

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight! That's why they are appealing the Judge's ruling to release the letter. They don't want the public to know that information. You can stick your head in the sand all you want. Every team tries to steal signs.

I am wondering why the Yankees and Manfred are so adamant about keeping the letter sealed. If it just shows what we already know, why not just unseal it and move on. There is a clear double standard going on here.

And yes, the Yankees were still doing it in 2018 and 2019. No doubt whatsoever.

Totally agree.

Have you seen the letter? Unclear how you already know this.

I am going by the unwillingness of the MLB to let it be unsealed. Hence, I am assuming the Yanks cheated using electronic means.

Of course they did. And of course everyone else did (in some fashion--likely not as blatant as trash-can banging). Even those of us who played in the days when 1 = fastball, 2=curve (on the off-chance the pitcher even had one!), love to play the game of de-coding signs during the game. So none of the geeks employed by the team did this? None of the players studying film ever do this? Another example of Manfred's incompetence: this should have been solved three years ago. Instead the league responded with a chest-thumping warning "Now REALLY! DON'T! I MEAN it this time!" and ineffective rule-changes (limit of catcher's visits).

The problem with unsealing this is it does nothing that we didn’t already know. I agree the league was doing something BEFORE the Yanks and Sox got caught and were warned and got fined. Teams that continued that practice got punished. So either the yanks have been really super secret good about electronic sign stealing or they stopped doing it.

The only thing this letter will elucidate is how the Yanks stole signs. It’ll be intriguing, but it won’t do anything. Punishment was already levied

Why do you think MLB and the Yankees are trying to keep it from becoming public knowledge? There will be things in it that hurt the Yankees image because they cheated too. Everyone knows it. The idiots obviously didn't have the talent to cheat and win because they haven't won anything for over 10 years.

The Sox just cheated better than the Yanks.
