Steven Wright: ‘We couldn’t figure out how this substance got into my body. But st the end of the day, it’s my responsibility...It falls on me.’ Wright says he can’t prove it was unintentional, so he accepts he has to serve suspension. Failed an offseason test and appealed.

Just as a reminder:

15 games for domestic violence

80 games for performance enhancers

Seems pretty f***ed up to me.

Its a joke and its the same way in every sport. Justin Blackmon, Josh Gordon and Martavis Bryant are facing indefinite bans due to weed and Colin Kaepernick likely wont ever play in the NFL again due to kneeling during the anthem. Meanwhile, Kareem Hunt was signed as soon as season ended by Browns and guys like Terrell Suggs can abuse their wife and kids and dump bleach on them and not even face a suspension. It is ridiculous.

I already didn't like Wright after the domestic violence s***, I really just want him gone at this point. He can't stay healthy anyway.

Why would a knuckleballer need PEDs? Dumb.

I would assume it was something to do with his injuries. He cant stay healthy and whatever he took I would assume would help with recovery from injuries, and/or help with strengthening his knee

Perhaps most frustrating for the Red Sox is that Wright knew he failed a drug test in the offseason but said he was appealing the suspension and didn’t feel obligated to tell the team until last week.

“Because I knew it was coming, I kind of held out hope in the arbitration or the hearing and stuff,” Wright said. “But I knew it was inevitable, so I felt like my obligation to tell them, I had to, just because of the respect that I have for them.”

If he felt he was obligated to tell the team (like he claims) he would've said something when it happened. He withheld that info out of self-preservation. But it's funny how he's trying to spin it.

Yet he claims that this has nothing to do with his knee.

He is either very f***ing dumb, or he is a cheat.

Most likely both.

I have been a fan of his. But those days are about over now.

Time to give one of the Sox young arms a shot.

And of course with the "I don't know how it got in my system" BS.

The other thing is, he should have let the team know earlier that he was facing a possible suspension. Maybe it doesn't make any difference in their offseason moves, but maybe it does.

So a player who tests positive does not have to inform his team until after the appeal is denied? (I guess that makes sense, but it seems odd to me, in that the 80-game suspension comes completely out of the blue--wouldn't the team want to be involved in the appeal?)

I would have thought that the team would be informed of a positive drug test right away. After all, the team has a right to know.

Does this clear room on the 40 man?

Perhaps Jenrry Mejia will replace Steven Wright on the 40-man roster.

Seriously.

I certainly hope not.

I really do not like Mejia signing.

But you are probably right.

He looked like dogshit the other day. Maybe Mejia spiked Wright's coffee.

Stupid Farrell ruined Wright's life and career.

If Wright gets any sympathy from me, it's because of this.

You are probably right as there must have been a lot of medications associated withhim getting through the injury and pain. No excuse but in reality he may have stumbled into the infraction. Too bad for the club and for Wright

I'm not buying it. Any MLB player knows to check and double check anything they take.
