It's weird to me that the first thing somebody wants to do after seeing their team win a WS is immediately try and bring up an old argument so they can act all superior, but each to their own.

Personally, I think it's awesome that we have a GM who has made so many brilliant decisions and given us sustained success. I am also very thankful for the previous one who gave us a WS and who's players like Kelly and Porcello were so instrumental to this unbelievable season.

It's a good time to be a Sox fan.

Intended Target 🎯 hit in the bullseye. LOL!

Dombrowski did an awesome job of putting together this championship team. The moves he made this season were pure gold.

Thank you Dave!

Dombrowski came into a really good situation, and made the right moves to augment it - he has nothing to apologize for obviously. After a couple of good seasons, you get one of the greatest single season teams in history.

It is impossible to definitively identify a "greatest team ever" but this team has every right to compare themselves with the 1998 Yankees or the 1976 Reds or the 1970 Orioles or the 2016 Cubs etc etc etc ...

You are right! It isn't about being superior though. I don't care about that. Moon lays over me with his knowledge of these types of issues. I am guilty of looking ahead I guess and maybe not enjoying the moment like I should. When the last game is over, you go to work on the next season. That is pretty much me and I have total faith that our franchise is in good hands. But once again you are right.

And I’m the opposite, maybe because I’m older. I relish each season and especially this one. I won’t even think about next year much—until late winter. Instead, I’ll focus on my Div I basketball team that usually gets to March Madness.

Also, I’m mostly lost when moonslav reels off those numbers and/or names for next year and the next decade or so. I’m like forest Gump opening up that box of chocolates. I like not knowing too much about what is coming.

Be well Max it has been fun.

I think we both know I couldn't be the target, seeing as I've been complimentary of Dombrowski and never found the urge to waste my time arguing who is the best between him and Ben.

We have been lucky to have Theo, Ben, and Dombrowski.

I started this thread on July 9th and said the trade for Pearce was looking like gold. I like being right. Thank you Steve Pearce for all you did to help the Sox win it all. Dave Dombrowski should be the executive of the year for what he did with Pearce, Eovaldi and Kinsler.

He came to a last place team totally devoid of starting pitching or a closer.

Theo is the GOAT GM.

He brought a parade to the downtrodden and desperate Red Sox fans...twice. And then just for gits & shiggles he gave the cubbies fans a parade too.

Dave Dombrowski would be lucky to be Theo’s coffee boy.....

Still feel that way today? Theo was playing golf yesterday. DD was watching his team win the World Series. Maybe Theo should be getting coffee for Dave.

Nothing brings out the dickheads like winning.

Dave Dombrowski won it all with the Marlins! And now he has come in after the Sox were in last place and brought them back to champions with a series of bold trades and smart pickups. Theo has nothing on Dave. For all Theo did well here and in Chicago just remember that he also had unlimited resources at his disposal and a lot of talent was already here when he arrived. Theo also made a lot of dumb moves. He signed Carl Crawford. He traded Anthony Rizzo. He signed Mike Cameron. He hired Grady Little. For the Cubs, he signed Jason Hayward to a massive, horrible contract and gave Edwin Jackson 4/52M. He is not golden. He is just a guy to will probably be dressed in a gorilla suit this Halloween.

Dombrowski hit a grand slam this year.

Cora

JDM

Eovaldi

Pearce

Despite his error in Game 3, I think bringing in Kinsler solidified 2B during the season. Kinsler was a solid veteran who helped the Sox win. Dave also signed Ryan Braiser.

And he resigned Moreland. That 3 run homer in Game 4 was HUGE!

Ease up there Ted. Theo is an excellent GM. No need trying to trash him to make Dave look better. They can both be excellent.

This franchise is in the best position it's been in in its entire history. There's some faultlines in the pipeline and the financial situation but the team on the field is strong and isn't likely to need big changes in the next 2-3 years which buys the team time to take care of those issues.

Theo is a great GM, don't get me wrong, But he is honestly a better fit for the Cubbies, who can take a bad year philosophically and let his more patient, fundamental development style flourish. DD is a get-the-job-done guy, use the resources you have to accomplish the mission at hand first and foremost, and then worry about patching the future together. Theo was an amazing GM for us, but DD is a better fit for Boston than Theo was.

I don't think this is DD's last time bringing this team trophies either.

But yet you made yourself the target.

Again, we both know this isn't true, but you admittance that you wanted a target backs up my point rather nicely. It's beyond petty and odd that your reaction to winning the world series was to want to do this, but hey, each to their own. I guess people get to enjoy the end of an astonishing season in different ways.

Yup! And there's moves not mentioned there (the Moreland re-signing for example), that also worked. He and Cora did very, very, little wrong this year. Absolutely incredible years for both.

We are incredibly lucky to have them.

other teams would have killed for the cost controlled talent that was already here - the team had holes, but the cupboard was hardly bare. Dombrowski has been outstanding.

Our farm, alone, was loaded with players other teams were drooling over.

Had Porcello won the Cy Young a year earlier, and HRam hit like 2017 in Ben's final year here, Ben might still be the GM.

You are so easy to troll, because everything is about you. You weren't the target of my post which was responded to by other with opinions rather than targeting me as "weird" as you did in your initial post and now as "petty and odd", which I find petty and odd. It is so easy to twist your small mind into knots. Edited by a700hitter

Not to mention, Dombrowski also has given out some questionable contracts. The Miguel Cabrera deal in Detroit might be one of the worst extensions of all time.

But then, the only GMs who don’t make bad moves are the ones who don’t make any moves...

You weren't the target of my post

Quite literally one page apart. I think its clear who has the confused mind.

The fact one of your first thoughts was to even a score with somebody just after we had won the WS says all we need to know. But hey, like I say. That's fine. It's your personality.

I'll leave you to this odd bitterness. I don't enjoy speaking to you at the best of times, but it's even worse when you're struggling to keep up with your own words, never mind mine.
