Hembree is also in the mix, as is Brasier. All of those guys are more deserving than Pomeranz both then and now. Pomeranz is like an appendix; a useless appendage who should most certainly be removed. I don't understand why he was put in the pen rather than just given his walking papers.

I started a new thread clarifying my thoughts on this.

If nothing else, Pomeranz provides some insurance in case of health issues with other starters.

I see. And just who is Pomeranz going to replace in the pen? Who exactly is he better than?

Nobody, now. I was talking about him regaining his old self. Then, hed be better than a few.

Who is pitching for us in the night game of the doubleheader on Saturday? (I want Velazquez)

I'm thinking you're probably right. ERod & Wright aren't ready.

Had we kept Pom in the rotation for 1-2 more starts, we could have pitched Sale in the DH'er and gone with Pom Sunday.

FRI: Eovaldi

Sat1: Price

Sat2: Velazquez or Haley from AAA

SUN: Sale

MON: Johnson

TUE: Porcello

WED: Eovaldi

THU: Price

FRI: Sale

SAT: Johnson

There is only now, not later. Its mid August. There is no more time to wait for Pomeranz to "regain his former self".

People on this site go gah gah or bonkers over 1-2 game sample sizes.

I'm thinking Pom is going to get several looks from the pen. If he does well and keeps improving, he'll get even more and more looks. He has plenty of time to prove he belongs in the pen.

I wouldn't bet on it, hoever.

Also, people have already penciled Brasier into the 3rd or 4th RP'er slot based on less than 14 IP this year. Pom could get that before October.

The Jays give Porcello problems for some reason.

The Jays are to Porcello what the Yankees had been to Price this season before his last start against them.

The good news is, we won't be facing the Jays in the postseason.

The bad news is, Price might be facing the Yanks.

(Let's hope he does as well as the last game vs them.)

https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/red-sox/sale-suffering-bursitis-puts-team-first-recovery

“He’s dealing with a little bit of bursitis in that shoulder, so best way to knock that out is rest, which is exactly what he’s doing,” Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy said on WEEI’s Kirk and Callahan show on Wednesday morning. “And I know it’s hurting him to be on the bench. This guy is, for those of you who don’t know him or haven’t seen him, he’s the ultimate competitor. He’s pissed off that he’s not in the stating rotation right now.”

It would be nice if we did not have to face Oakland or Houston in the playoffs. Those guys seem to have our number.

We're 2-2 vs the Astros.

If Sale can't come back for the playoffs, the way Price is pitching we're still favorites. He's really ace material since the all-star break.

Price is pitching like an ace exactly when we need him to, with Sale, ERod, and Wright all on the DL.

A 1-2 punch of Sale and the current Price would be deadly.

Who is available to start against the whitesox tomorrow?

Isn't it Porcello's normal day start?

He pitched Saturday.

Eovaldi should pitch game 2. Maybe Wright or ERod will be ready by game 3.

I think it’s Porcello tomorrow, Eovaldi Friday, ERod Saturday and Johnson Sunday.

Monday in Atlanta, who knows?

Remember back in March when I was clamoring for more minor league pitching depth? This is why...

I'm really looking forward to ERod's start.

Me too. If he gets back into form he could be our 3rd starter, especially if Porcello has another weaker start.

If your definition of an Ace is David Price you haven’t watched much baseball have you?

Ticking time bomb which can and will explode at any moment. Good luck with your pink hat assessment

Add in “way back” Rick Porcello back to his old self allowing the HR ball you have every contender in the AL licking their chops

Dombrowski blew it last August when Verlander was past on. Tax strapped is a beautiful thing!

You might win a 100 games but it’s the final 12 wins that count and there isn’t enough pitching starter or relief to get it done!

It’s a fact and the facts are undisputed

The only undisputed fact is that you're an ignorant ******* who should have been banned ages ago.
