If I were the Sox I would push Sale Back 1 start, so he goes against Toronto, and give him last Start (Orioles) coming out of All-Star break, he'll get a additional day off, this week, and 12 days off going into All-Star break.

Have to think about Post-Season, and stretch run. All-Star Game is so late this year they should be using this to their advantage, to rest Sale. Use the All-Star game if he goes as a BP session.

I'm all for doing everything we can to make sure Sale is as rested as can be come October.

You all seem to know about baseball forums history better than I do. But I've dabbled before coming here.

SBF was a odd and unusual dude, some might say a wacko. But I'd give anything to hang out with the guy for just one game.

I actually did hang out with SBF for a game....he really isn't wacko at all. He is just very passionate and emotional when it comes to his team. He also really knows the game. Sometimes he forgets that there is actually a limited amount of money that a team can spend, but other than that, he only cares about winning. Interesting guy....

We've got 5 guys over .866 right now, not counting Pearce (.892 overall).

Nice!

Beni rising again. Last two days on base 9 of 10. Definition of a table setter.

Posted

Beni wasn't just setting the table this weekend, he was laying out a feast.

I'm loving the Pearce pickup, too. Seems like all he's done is hit every time he's been in the lineup since joining the Sox.

YES!

Beni on base 11 of his last 12 PAs and 13 of 16.

His OPS is almost over .900 again.

Pearce is now at .922.

Posted (edited)

With all this massive offense recently, the OPS numbers have jumped for most:

1.105 Betts

1.039 JD

.922 Pearce (1.128 w/ BOS)

.894 Beni

.884 Moreland

.875 Bogey

.778 Holt

.683 Leon

.663 Nunez

.619 JBJ

.548 Vaz

.460 Swi

6 guys over .875!

Last year Betts led the team at .803 with Devers at .819 and Nunez and .892- both in limited Sox action.

Remember when some claimed maybe last year was really the "norm" for all our players nearing or in prime?

He seems to hate John Henry and is disappointed that JH is ony willing to spend about a quarter billion dollars per year for out entertainment. Considering collectively we spend 0 dollars for his entertainment, I might say we have some reasons to be grateful for the man SBF repeatedly calls "Pruneface"...

I always thought Moreland signing was a good one. With the signing, Sox had every starter back from last year's Division championship team. AND THAT'S HOW I JUDGE THE SIGNING. DD did the prudent thing. A 2-year, $13M deal was not a break the bank deal. Getting him signed was more important get than having to pay few extra millions.

Keep in mind that JD was not a sure thing at the time.

When JD was signed, I wrote that in retrospect, Moreland signing was very cheap because Hanley's vesting $ MAY go away.

Basically we saved $9M by signing Moreland. Not a bad thing.

And looks like Pearce signing will be much better than the 3B we picked up from Miwaukee (Hill?) last year?

Not to mention the fact that he is an All-Star this year playing on the team with the best record in baseball. Not the same as when Holt made the team because somebody had to. Great signing.

I wouldn't use any KC stats, I would exclude them. Just pads stats, and you don't get a real evaluation of players. That's me though. Even Remy said looked like they were playing a Double AA team, not even Triple AAA.

I still say that softlaw and Bill were the greatest trolls of all time.

I thought Bill was just as dumb as a rock but I could have been wrong.

There's no middle ground there. Bill was either dumb as a rock or the greatest troll ever. I actually felt sorry for Bill at times.

I'm going with Door #1 - but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

He was banned here for abusing female members and being, in general, a giant dick.

And we are not supposed to talk about him.

His final banning was for personally attacking Thunder I thought?

I don't remember but it would seem likely.

He was a dick.

One of my buddies here has spoken to him on the phone and in PMs. Apparently he can be nice guy. I never saw this.

You can find the post where he got banned if you use the search. He was a real creep sometimes. I don't care about the whole "well he's a good guy in person" nonsense. He just dragged the site down with his negativity.

True.

But he did teach us that Bogey is a choker.

Good post Nick.

I would also like to point out that keeping Holt at $2.25 million is looking pretty good right now. There were very few who were on board with that move.

Actually according to yourteamcheats.com, the New York Jets cheat more often than any other NFL team. This is largely ignored because, despite all the cheating, the Jets still suck...

LOL, yeah, let's use a site written by a pats fan as proof.

And I'm not a Jets fan, in fact I don't even watch football.

Agree on Holt. Also on Nick's points about Moreland and Pearce.

Yep I was one of those. But I never complain about being wrong. I didn't give him enough slack for not being 100%,

Speaking of which, as players become more athletic, they seem to get hurt more.

Moreland, Xander and Holt all played with injuries last year. And, Pedey obviously has been playing hurt since he was a baby.

I'm a big JD fan but I had to chuckle 'little bit' (my apologies to JD) when Cora said he was banged up from all the foul balls off of his feet. I'm sure they hurt.

I like this team. I don't have complaints. I hope they all get healthy come September.

No complaints about this team from me either.

If they stay healthy, they have as good a shot as anybody to win the WS.
