Cottam with his first professional tater today. Congrats young man.

And oh by the way.... Casas got injured today and had to leave the game. I think it was his thumb. Groome please slide down and give Casas some room on the trainer’s table. Just been that kind of year!

He'll get two whole months of development and maybe some more playing time if an affiliate makes the post season. I can see them moving him up or down to get that playing time, and he'll get some at bats in the fall league too.

Maybe, MAYBE if he absolutely mashes for 2 months he gets added to the 40 man and gets a September call up. He does have to be added at the end of the year anyways. Still sucks that he missed a lot of time, but this season doesn't have to be a complete waste.

Or maybe he is included as part of a trade package at the deadline.

Thornburg got demoted to Portland, not good. And gave up HR.

I watched him pitch live and his pitches drift to the middle of the plate and they get killed, not a lot of command or control.

He wasn’t “demoted”. He’s pitching in AAA on Saturday. Probably just in Portland since Pawtucket was playing an away series.

Red Sox announce first-round pick Triston Casas underwent successful thumb surgery yesterday in Boston. He'll miss the rest of the year.

I had not heard that Casas had been injured until now.

How the hell did this happen?

He was just at Fenway taking BP.

[h=2]Red Sox First-Round Pick Triston Casas Out For Season Following Thumb Surgery[/h]By Steve Adams | June 29, 2018 at 1:53pm CDT

Red Sox prospect Triston Casas, the team’s first-round pick in this year’s draft, will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb, according to a team announcement. Casas, an 18-year-old third baseman, appeared in just two games for the Red Sox’ Rookie-level affiliate in the Gulf Coast League before incurring the injury.

Clearly, it’s a discouraging outcome for both the organization and for Casas, who forewent a college commitment to the University of Miami in order to sign with the Sox for a $2,552,800 bonus. Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston hears that there’s optimism that Casas will at least be able to participate in the instructional league this fall (Twitter link).

It’s been a rough year for Boston prospects on the whole. In addition to the Casas injury, the Sox lost top prospect Jay Groome to Tommy John surgery. The organization’s No. 2 prospect, Michael Chavis, was hit with an 80-game suspension in early April following a failed PED test and has not yet played a game in 2018

You hate to see these hand injuries to power hitters.

My binkie this season is Denyi Reyes, in Greenville. First real full season in the Minors. GCL and Short season is useless to me. Tell you what impresses me about those stats, 176 innings and only 14 BB's.

My binkie doing OK 6-3 1.91 ERA, last night pitched beauty too. Upped his K's too, good sign. Last 10 starts 1.16 ERA. Promotion soon? Pitching on a bad team too. 29 wins, and he has 6 of them.

Stats for the League.

Our combined record in the Minors (A-AAA), roughly at half-way point is 131 wins and 181 losses. We do not have one team with a winning record.

Anybody in CT. that interested in going to Portland Games, they will be in Hartford July 4-8, 5 games, that's it for the year here. Beautiful Stadium.

Also Lowell will be in Norwich at Dodd Stadium from the 4th-6th, if you want to see the new kids Drafted. Make a day of it go to Casino, then go to game. That's what I usually do.

1st Round Draft Pick Tanner Houck is Pitching tonight for Salem. He's dropped a full run on ERA in his last 3 starts. 6.16 to 5.16. Lets see if he found something and keeps improving. You cant have first Rounders keep falling short.

He's pitching A+ so which is one step higher than he should be. So now we need to see improvement. Early in season, it happens.

The new delivery from what I have seen, still has kinks and in my mind, he still profiles as a future closer.
