Mata threw 5 innings today. Gabe up 1 run, but walked 3 batters.

I love his ability to attack hitters, and I am hopeful his control improves.

Guerrero hit another HR tonight, went 2-4.

We need to beat up on the Jays now before they get good.

Not many exciting happenings in our minor league system right now...we could just make this the Vlad Jr. Thread and I'd be perfectly fine with that.

Kid I'm liking in Pawtucket is Haley. Steady. Tough luck loser this year.

Probably a bullpen arm. I think Beeks is better.

I look at beek’s stuff and I think of words like average and ordinary. Yet, all he does is get hitters out everywhere he goes.

I hope this kid gets a chance to show his stuff in Boston, because to date, he has earned it in my book.

Travis with another tater today.

He struggled to get the timing down when he returned from the dl. But he seems to be getting back to hitting.

Haley pitched another good game for the PawSox. He's been pretty steady up to this point. By the way Guerrero hit a 3 run HR against Portland last night. 53 RBI's up to this point in 50 games.

I follow different Minor Leaguers, not just the Sox Players. What's Guerrero is doing in the Eastern League is crazy.

this is literally the most disappointing season for Sox prospect watching I've ever seen in my lifetime. The system is empty.

This is about as bad as it gets. The tragedy of D.Flores; TJ surgery for Groome; and Michael Chavis is a PED addict. Just about all of the pitchers have disappointed rather than take a step forward (led by Tanner Houk).

On the positive side, J.Beeks has performed well--he should be able to help the Red Sox this year in some capacity. CJ Chatman has stayed healthy and is producing. His big test will occur when he is promoted to AA, probably later in the year. If Chatman can develop into a quality major league SS, the Red Sox can avoid paying Bogaerts 15-20 million per year. Also, maybe Shawaryn has raised his ceiling to that of a middle of the rotation starter. If Beeks and Shawaryn can develop into quality middle of the rotation starters and if Chatman can develop into a starting caliber major league SS, that's three players who can contribute to the Red Sox future while being cost effective and allowing the Red Sox to use resources elsewhere.

While Chavis' career is likely over, built on PEDs (he probably isn't any good without them), Groome will be back next year and will hopefully get back on track as a top prospect.

I posted this on another forum pre season about the Sox system. Not the prospect who could make the biggest jump, but the one prospect who could really make the biggest impact in our system if he did, I thought that guy was Chatham.

He was the #1 ranked SS in the draft and we got him. It was a weird year though were there weren't really any top ranked college SS in the draft at all but you never know. We got Pedroia with a 2nd round pick. It would be nice to strike gold again with an up the middle college player in the 2nd round.

It sounds like Beeks added a cutter:

PawSox manager Kevin Boles says the cutter has transformed Beeks on the mound. “He’s always had a real steady demeanor on the mound. It’s the execution, though. And obviously with this cutter he’s got in the mix now, that cutter has been a weapon for him,” Boles told me in his office. “He took it upon himself to study the best in the game, and evaluate video, and trying to find a different solution as far as making the ball move. He’s found something. This pitch has the chance to be a quality Major League pitch.”

I'd like to see Beeks given a shot at some point. Many people have him pegged for a reliever at the MLB level and maybe he can be a great one at that buy when you do what he's doing at AAA right now you give the kid a chance to prove you wrong first.

I wouldn't mind seeing a 6 man rotation for a month or so. The extra rest might help get some guys back on track and keep the staff fresh for the playoffs.

I don't see Beeks getting a shot this year simply because you have too many cooks in the kitchen up in the bigs. Velasquez, Johnson and Wright are all capable of starting and are all on your big league roster. You exhaust those options before going to the minors
