The humidity / moisture makes gripping the ball a challenge for Wright. That is what is being commented on, not how atmospheric conditions affect the flight of the ball.

At least that is what I heard last season when he had difficulty.

I can barely stand watching him on the days that he pitches.

I agree, hard watching a knuckleballer.

Kendrick is earning his way. What is his opt-out provision?

Yup. So far so good. Ride him til he turns into a pumpkin.

Watching Pablo for the first time since last year. Can't believe the difference. Swing, belly, everything. He's even taking good swings from the right side. Good news, indeed!

I finally made you smile!!!!

I am actually almost always smiling.

I just have to keep a poker face on these threads. :)

I agree, it is often hard watching a knuckleballer pitch. OTOH, I think it's awesome when a pitcher can make a batter look silly at the plate, knuckleballer or not.

You mean "2017 All Star Pablo Sandoval."

He is answering the doubters and I am one of those. If he shores up 3rd base with a better than expected season, we are solid at every infield position and the outfield looks outstanding with the one question being JBJ's hitting consistency. Great news on Panda so far.

So far, so good on Pablo. Spring training results are not enough to declare that Pablo is back to his 2014 level, but he has given us reason to be optimistic.

2 at bats today single and double. I'm getting more and more optimistic.

Vazquez picked off a runner at second today and caught another stealing third. Has thrown out 5 of 6 runners this spring, I would say his arm strength is fully back.

Wow, that's impressive.

I've seen Pablow play a bunch this spring ( all on TV ). He looks REALLY good. His lateral movement, his swing from the left, and even his base running. All have looked as good as I have ever seen him.

When the regular season begins, will the Sox don the traditional blue caps with the red B, or will they be wearing the red caps with blue visor that they are wearing today?
Posted
Yeah, they use the red caps, or blue with a red brim, for batting practice during the regular season. I own one of the blue ones, with a red B and red brim. IIRC when I bought it online, it set "Batting Practice Cap" or something like that.

That's great to hear. It still has to translate into regular season production, but as I said earlier, he certainly has given us reason to be optimistic. Hopefully, last season gave him the motivation to stick with his dieting and conditioning for the remainder of his career.

I think Pablo might be Lackey 2.0

The first two years were a disaster but he might come back in the 3rd year and completely redeem himself.

Also, if Devers pans out soon we might actually get back good value for Pablo in a trade this offseason. This could also clear out some space for extensions

I agree. I think I've seen all of his AB's in jBP this spring and I'm amazed. I'm not sold on him yet as his having a full good year but everything looks good except his swing from the right side.

I saw the HR he hit right handed against Tampa Bay on Saturday on a highlight reel and although the result was great the swing wasn't any better than it has been from that side. He just ran into one. I'm hoping one HR doesn't encourage him to hit from that side more often.

Nice inning for Leon.

Steve Selsky continues to impress this spring. He may be a cheap replacement for Young next year.

That's the plan.

er... at least it's MY plan. I can't speak for the Red Sox. ;)

Maybe we can convince the SF Giants to take the renewed Pablow in a trade, so that Marco Hernandez can have a spot on the big club. Edited by a700hitter
