I like the lineup depth we will have at Pawtucket, imagine it would include Swihart, Travis, Hernandez and Selsky.

Maybe we can convince the SF Giants to take the renewed Pablow in a trade, so that Marco Hernandez can have a spot on the big club.

and maybe give Betts and JBJ or XB a contract extension in the near future. Be nice to hold onto at least 2 out of 3 of them long term.

There was a rumor last year about SF being interested, but they denied it.

If Pablo does well, someone might take him for half of his salary, but if he's doing well, we probably will need him.

I think Marco would be okay on defense at 3B, and he can't be much worse than Pablo was on defense in 2015, but he might not be as good as Pablo now.

Steve Selsky continues to impress this spring. He may be a cheap replacement for Young next year.

His chances this April do appear slim. For some reason, the FO likes something about Rutledge.

While Rutledge does have to make the team or be returned to Colorado, it is possible that a deal could be made between the two teams that negates his Rule 5 status. But even then he still has no options remaining...

Rumor was the Ben was super high on Rutledge. I'm not sure why.

It's weird that the obsession has carried over to the DD regime.

Cherington couldn't have been too high on him. He traded him for a broken down Shane Victorino...

I remember reading it somewhere, but it could have just been GM doublespeak.

He acquired him for a broken down Victorino.

I did get that one backwards.

It does make me wonder why Dombrowski granted him free agency if only top select him in the Rule 5 draft.

At the time he had both Shaw and Moncada in the mix for third.

Actually both were traded prior, with both deals being announced within 48 hours of the Rule 5 draft. ...

You asked why they granted him free agency. They removed him from 60 day disabled list in early November and did not add him to the 40, which made him a free agent. They traded Shaw and Moncada in December. In beginning of Nov. they weren't going to waste a spot on the 40 when they had so much depth.

Fair enough.

They let him go via free agency, but the subsequent moves of Shaw and Moncada created a need, and he was a guy they were familiar with. That makes sense now. Thank you...

I take full credit for expressing my concerns about JBJ last week, which clearly was the reason he found his swing the last few days.

How about those of us who said don't worry about JBJ?

Oh, well yeah. There was that. But ... I mean ... still ...

If they were all on that team and I lived closer, I would buy season's tickets!

Does anyone have any idea as to which pitcher is scheduled to start on Saturday?

They don't even have Thursday's SP confirmed yet. But I'll guess ERod for Sat.
