Pablo looks beat down. I can feel for him. I can't feel happy about beating a person who is beat down. He did is to himself, I hope he gets that and learns and makes it right. But I am happy when other people are happy.......and not happy when other people are not happy.......

Well that is a very human take SoxHop.

But as we all have seen, whatever may come, he brought it all on himself. And in reality, he is owed what, $75. Mil.

I can not say that I can empathize with Pablo. Of course I have been very embarrassed in my life. But I never had to endure the humiliation he must feel and likely continue to feel going forward.

I don't think anyone is rooting for Pablo to continue being a disgraceful sack of s***, but that's what he's been for this team so far. I hope he turns it around, but at this point he's just a joke and I really can't see him turning it around, he's getting paid either way.

Agreed, NWIH Sandoval makes that play. Shaw is shaping up to be the pleasant surprise of the year. Still reserving judgemment at the moment, it's way too early to do anything else, but so far I'm pretty impressed.

I'm not thrilled with Farrell moving him out of the line-up to pinch hit for him at times so far this year. Just let him play if he's going to play.

Cashing a $17 million annual check does cushion the blow of the embarrassment. I worked for a Fortune 100 Company for 30 years and there were a lot of overpaid executive knuckleheads that made atrocious business decisions. I never knew a single one who was embarrassed about being useless. And every one of them was highly proficient regarding maximizing their own compensation. I don't think we should project feelings of shame on Panda.

It probably helps. It's not a Fortune 100 company or a real job - but it is one of the most competitive industries on earth. Takes a certain drive, talent level and whatnot not to get to the top of the mountain, but to separate yourself from the Crash Davises. A lot of ego is tied into starting - and so not starting has to sting.

Surely it does. Again, he did bring all this crap upon himself.

He could turn it all around by making a concerted effort to lose weight, get in game shape, get back on the field, and being productive.

If he did that most people would applaud him. I would.

$17 million is a nice salve. Plus, he brought this on himself. I have no sympathy for any shame or embarrassment that he may feel.

If he came back and crushed it, he'd be immensely marketable.

"Hi, I'm Pablo Sandoval. You may remember me from such baseball highlights as breaking my belt buckle, falling ass over teakettle while running the bases and needing to taken out of the game due to dizziness from running the bases. With new bamboo flavored Shakeology, I've been able to get more energy, feel full and lose a ton of weight."

My man Pete Abraham, telling it like it is:

Re: Panda. Why delight more in mocking one guy than cheering 24 others? That’s why you like sports, really?

Leave the guy alone. What did he do to you? He’s in a tough spot and trying to make the best of it. Enough.

(Oops! I thought you were talking about Sandoval!)

Should be noted that Shaw has really slowed down offensively the last couple games.

There is so much preaching here about showing patience. patience and more patience. How many times do we hear give them all until Memorial Day or the trade dead-line. Got to give Shaw a real chance. He is the best that we have at this point in time. For that matter what message is he getting when the current trend is to pinch hit for him so often?

No, Shaw. I'm not impressed with Farrel's "management" early in the season.

The sooner Farrell is gone the better. This business with Shaw is just another indicator.

In a tough spot, trying to make the best of it? He's getting paid $75 million as a professional athlete and he shows up overweight and completely useless. How is this a 'tough spot' and how exactly is he 'trying to make the best of it'? Trying to make the best of it... is not showing up to spring training grossly overweight. It's not like he accidentally fell into a silo at Ben & Jerry's and had to eat his way out to survive. The dude shows NO RESPECT to the game, his teammates, or employers. $75 million and you can't even stay in even marginal shape?

He's a disgrace to every single real athlete out there. Disgrace. He deserves all the hate he is getting. The Red Sox have a huge chunk of dead money sitting around because of his useless, pathetic, fat ass. (Now the Red Sox were complete idiots for signing this clown, but this "Panda's trying! Leave Panda Alone" BS is puke-worthy. The guys is laughing at us as he continues to stuff his face)

Agreed. (Wasn't it Mike Greenwell who refused to take money for time he was playing in Japan because he felt he didn't deserve it?) The only reason he should keep that money is so that the RS can't try what the Yankees stupidly tried with Arod in order not to have to fulfill their own terms of his contract--shame him into retiring. So sit your fat ass down there, Panda. Eat hearty. And take one for the team (i.e., the Player's Union and the CBA).
