10th inning, a pinch hitting pitcher. NL baseball at its finest!!!

I wonder if we agree on this......the DH should be used in BOTH leagues. To me it is ridiculous to assume that fans enjoy seeing pitchers go up there and look like clowns. It took about a good decade but I think the DH eventually gave the American League the advantage in All Star games and most of the WS from the late 80's on.

I agree 100%.

As soon as Bartolo retires, and the awesomeness that are his at-bats cease to exist, the DH will be adopted by the NL.

So in about 10 years.

If they bring in the pitch clock like they're doing in the minors, DH in all games might be bearable. As things stand, I like the shorter NL gametimes. But there are good arguments on both sides of this debate.

That'd be funny, if it wasn't a terrible, terrible lie. Bartolo is slower than Bengie Molina.

and Bengie Molina is Usain Bolt compared to Hanigan, or so I've been told.

Anthony Rizzo 188 OPS+ 3.2WAR, 182wRC+

holy s*** what a hitter he has become.

I used to follow him when he played in Portland. I was convinced he would be the next star 1st baseman for the Sox.

Oh well.

He hit 20HR in that year at AA at age 19/20. He was going to be awesome you can feel it.

Finally did my ASG ballot. Don't eat me alive here.

AL:

1B: Fielder (even though he's been a DH)

2B: Pedroia

SS: Bogaerts (Was a tough call, either him or Alcides)

3B: Donaldson

C: Vogt

OF: Bautista, Trout, Jones (No particular order)

DH: Cruz

NL:

1B: Goldschmidt (Tough call between Rizzo, AGon, and Goldy)

2B: Gordon

SS: Peralta

3B: Arenado

C: Posey

OF: Stanton, Harper, Pollock

I felt like Fielder and Gordon were both deserving because of their batting averages. Vogt's power numbers jumped out at me, and Pollock's overall numbers jumped out at me. He's at least in the top 10 in the NL in AVG, TB, Hits, and WAR.

I'm aware of Pederson, but AJ is much more valuable to his team than Pederson is. Without Pollock and Goldy, the D-backs would have no offense.

That really doesn't hold water. Arizona still sucks, and the AS game is a showcase of people who have accrued great individual stats. Pederson has been better than Pollock in that regard.

I know that many think the Astros are going to fall back to earth, but I disagree. I have been watching a lot of their games and they have some studs in the rotation. Kechuel (sp) is very good and this kid McCullers who just came up can throw the ball through a brick wall and go deep into games. They have a great catalyst in Altuve and other good looking young players like Springer (huge power) and they just called up their top prospect Correia to play SS. Every day that they stay in the race they grow in confidence. I don't see them falling apart. Edited by a700hitter

I agree. I watched Springer play a lot at UConn, and he is a stud. There is no pressure on them at all, which can really help. They have an explosive offense, a solid rotation, and a good closer in Gregerson, who blew only his second save over the weekend.

I don't know if they'll fall back to earth or not, but if I had to venture a guess right now, I would say that they won't win their division.

On a related note, I just read that the Rangers were 9.5 games back in the AL West on May 20th. After going 14-4 since then, they are only 2 games back. In a 3 week span, they made up 7.5 games. If they can do it, the Sox can do it.

So, Venditte is on the DL with a sore right shoulder. Can't he just be a full time lefty until it gets better?

Alex Wilson.

Remember that guy? In 60 IP between this year and last year, he has a 1.80 ERA and a .80 WHIP. What happened there? Why was he traded, and how did he do this well?

Seems like our standard kind of luck. He was involved in the trade for Porcello.

Molina has a cannon in that arm. Way to get out Buxton. Edited by iortiz

He pitched well last year, but most of it was in non pressure situations, especially with how bad the team was last year. I didn't think much of him because he was so bad the year before and never really projected to be much.. Then of course he goes to Detroit and becomes shut down relief pitcher who can pitch 2-3 innings out of the pen every other day on a contender. Its really annoying how much this stuff happens.

Orioles are sending Chen down because of "general soreness" - why not the DL then? Conspiracy theorists say it's so they can avoid him starting against Toronto, who murder lefties. If so, that's really, really weak.

Didn't realie how great the pitching matchup in Seattle last night was. King Felix outdueled MadBum, but MadBum still went 8 strong and struck out 9.
