I'm going off this board for a month and if things pan out the way they did in '12 and '14 when I took my monthly hiatus, I will return with fire flaming out of my nose and smoke from my ears........AND EVERYONE CONNECTED WITH THE RED SOX WILL BE OPEN SEASON.

Apparently Fred means business !

Somebody want to tell me what is going on in Houston? They're good 2 years early. Sports Illustrated said they would beat the Cubs in the 2017 WS.

There is a God.

Yes, I'm sure the Sox org. will be wetting themselves all month, in anticipation of your wrath.

Seems like Keuchel is the real deal this year. Los Astros seem pretty good thus far.

Not looking good for Jarrod Parker's career; fractured elbow and potential third TJ surgery.

On a third TJ surgery, wouldn't it just be a transplant of the UCL from a deceased donor?

If so, f*** that. I wouldn't want my elbow fixed that badly. In this case, they are looking at the end attached to the bone that's fractured because that's where the holes were drilled for the TJs he already had. So maybe the ligament can be salvaged.

Mike Redmond out in Miami. I don't care how few manager positions there are, working for Loria is poison.

I have never understood how that franchise operates.

I'm sorry, but the way in which Bryce Harper was tossed tonight is just an abomination. It brings shame to all umpires, including myself. He was mad at a low strike call and walks out of the box while the umpire deals with hecklers in the dugout. Harper gets tossed for stepping out of the box. That is just pure BS. Harper didn't say anything about the strike call, although he was visibly upset, and was taking advantage of a brief stoppage of play. Whether or not he thought, or the umpire thought, he would be fined for stepping out is irrelevant. It is not the umpire's job to point anything out. In times of rule violations that don't really affect the game, we aren't supposed to say a thing. A player doesn't touch home plate, or any other base? Shut up, wait for the opposing coach to appeal if he would like to. A guy should not be thrown out simply for stepping out of the box. Umpires learn that if he wants to risk a fine, let him. They shouldn't be telling them not to do that. And then, as the Nationals' broadcasters said, basically everyone who came to the game tonight came to see Bryce Harper (even Yankee fans), the 22 year old (with the same birthday as me) who has been on an absurd tear over the last few weeks. The youngsters of the game are what bring people into the ballpark nowadays (trust me here, I'm going to see Mike Trout on Sunday). The umpire seemed to go out of his way to render everyone's night wasted, never mind the waste of money they now face after paying for the ticket. Edited by Thunder

I hate when an umpire instigates the confrontation and then tosses the player. I remember a game when I was at Fenway on a Sunday afternoon and the Ump called Manny out on a third strike in the first inning that Manny didn't like. Manny said something on the way to the dugout, but he didn't get in the ump's face or cause a seen. He pointed to the spot of the pitch and started walking to the dugout. The ump left his position and followed Manny to instigate. With that Manny stopped walking and gave the ump a few choice words and the ump tossed him before he got the words out. I was infuriated. It was the first inning. He should have just let him walk back to the dugout. Everyone had paid their money to see then Manny - Ortiz show which was a once in a lifetime pairing of two of the games greatest hitters and the man in blue thought it was about him. f***ing jerk. A lot of the fans rode that ump for all 9 innings and he had it coming.

I don't this warranted a new thread at all. But apparently the Rays High-A club had a A-Rod Juice Box night that got cancelled. the first 500 fans would get a juice box that had a list of side effects on it. Some included: tainted records and omission from the hall of fame. I found it pretty funny.

Yankees are getting pounded by the Rangers 6-0.

Yep. Their meltdown is beginning. They seem to be inconsistent, similar to us. They have the starting pitching, but their offense is weakening, and the pitching itself really hasn't been holding its own lately. They're coming off a 2-7 road trip. Ouch.

My heart pumps piss for the Yankees.

Another opportunity squandered by our Sox.

Yeah, it was another squandered opportunity. OTOH, as badly as the Sox have been playing, they're still in the hunt.

Is David Wright done?

Appears so. CC also looks like he's done as well. Too bad I missed his horrendous start. I just had to play golf today. Damn
