That is pretty cool (except for the fact that the Sox were not a home team).

I'm surprised that this was the first time in history that it has ever happened. You would think it would have been done before.

I know, that's what I was thinking. Only consolation is that the NYY lost, again!

The Yankees losing is always consolation.

Anyone but the Yankees!

Well, the Blue Jays are in first place. This weekend series with the Yankees will be fun to watch. That Rogers Centre will be LOUD!

I hope the Jays can keep it going. Something to remember, though, is that teams are never as good as they look when they're winning and they're never as bad as they look when they're losing. Except for maybe the Red Sox. LOL

It's amazing how quickly the swing in the division took place. Also, there was a swing of 6.5 games in the NL East in just 2 weeks. This is why you never give up hope. Anything can happen.

Sad to say, I enjoyed the Yankees/Guardians game and the end of the Brewers/Cubs game more than I enjoyed our Sox game yesterday. :(

At least we have the Papi homerun watch to look forward to. :)

Go baseball!

I told my friend at the game Ortiz is going to smash one and hit the FORD sign in RF. Didn't hit the FORD sign, but it did get to the 2nd deck. It was great to see live.

I'm sure that was great to see. At least you had something good to see in that game. Ortiz has been crushing the ball lately.

I wonder what it would be like to make 12 straight GTs. Some lucky Blue Jays fan has the lucky mojo. They must be parading him through town, because this is the best thing that's happened to them since Joe Carter's home run in the 1993 WS.

RedSoxRooter started 13 GTs in a row (12 wins plus the last one, which was a loss) in 2006. I remembered the 12-game win streak because it was all against NL teams and ended when the Sox lost to Dontrelle Willis and the Marlins back when Willis was relevant. I had to check to see who started the threads though.

Thinking about Dontrelle Willis made me think about some of those other pitchers like Ben Sheets who were dominant for a while but fell off the map for one reason or the other. Longevity is hard to achieve in MLB.

Yeah Willis is the first one I think of as far as guys from around the time I started watching baseball. Brandon Webb comes to mind, as well. One Cy Young award and then I don't think I ever heard his name again.

Wouldn't you think the law of averages means it would have been done a couple of times at least already?

This is the first time it has happened with 15 games. It happened a couple times back when there were fewer teams and games per day. So this is really the first time since 1998, when the last of the current 30 teams was created.

Given 30 teams, 15 games, the difference in each season in the win/loss records of those teams, and the innumerable possibilites involved in baseball, it's actually astonishing that it only took 17 years for this to happen. Mathematically, it was far more likely that baseball could have continued as-is for another century before this occurred.

Is Starlin Castro a bust? I think so. The Cubs actually were smart to give him a relatively team-friendly deal. I doubt he resigns with them upon reaching FA, and I hear rumors that they might be trying to move him.

Dontrelle was a breath of fresh air when he blew onto the scene. It's sad how much he declined.

Ok, without much thought, my initial reaction when hearing that this was the first time in MLB history that all 15 home teams won was that I was surprised it hadn't happened before. Your post piqued my curiousity, so I did the math behind it, which I should have done before making my above statement.

For simplicity, if every game is taken as a 50-50 proposition, the odds of all 15 home teams winning is 1 in 32,768. Let's say that there are roughly 120 days each season when there is a full schedule of 15 games. Mathematically, this should happen once in about every 273 years. So you were right - it was more likely to be another century before this occurred.

According to Elias, the previous best record by home teams was 12-0 on May 23, 1914.

Good stuff Youk.

LOL I have to do that every now and then to make Youk appear at least somewhat normal. ;)

Well there's no arguing with that.

This is very odd timing since Hutchinson has had two very solid outings including a very strong 6 2/3 innings against the Yankees yesterday giving up 1 run on 3 hits and 1 walk.

Blue Jays Option Drew Hutchison To Triple-A

By Steve Adams [August 17, 2015 at 2:14pm CDT]

The Blue Jays announced that they have optioned struggling right-hander Drew Hutchison to Triple-A, as Shi Davidi of Sportsnet first reported they would. His demotion (along with yesterday’s demotion of left-hander Aaron Loup) clears way for Toronto to bring up outfielder Ezequiel Carrera and infielder Matt Hague, though Carrera’s promotion has not yet been made official. The Blue Jays will utilize a four-man rotation until a fifth starter is needed on Aug. 29, according to Davidi.

Hutchison, 24, was expected to hold down a rotation spot for the bulk of the 2015 season, with some projecting him to be Toronto’s most effective starter. Hutchison worked to a 4.46 ERA in 2014, but he struck out a batter per inning with good control (2.9 BB/9) and was looked upon more favorably by stats such as FIP (3.85) and xFIP (3.82). Those same stats feel he’s been slightly worse in 2015, but not to the point where his ERA should be a its current mark of 5.06.

The timing of Hutchison’s demotion has to be difficult for the right-hander, though, as he’s turned in a pair of very solid outings in his two most recent trips to the hill (combined three runs on seven hits and three walks with 11 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings). He’s already cleared three years of service time this season and wouldn’t have had a chance at four, so this move won’t prevent him from reaching arbitration and won’t delay his free agency.

Hague, 30, was claimed by the Blue Jays 364 days ago and will join the big league club for the first time on the one-year anniversary of that transaction. He’s currently hitting .348/.427/.482 with 10 homers at Buffalo. He’ll serve as a bench piece, with the Blue Jays presumably hoping that he can fill a role similar to that of Danny Valencia earlier this season.

Carrera, 28, has already logged 70 games with Toronto this season. The speedy outfielder has batted .279/.327/.374 in 164 big league plate appearances this year and is batting a very similar .276/.349/.345 in Triple-A.

Dubront for the A's tonight going against Kershaw for the Dodgers. A's are up 1-0 in the 5 the inning. What do you think are the chances that that score will hold up? Lol!

Billy Butler' double in the 10th won it. How did that happen?

and this is why I can't bet on baseball. I would lose my shirt on games like this.

To go along with the $20 you will lose in a few weeks from the fantasy league. :P

Cespedes with 3 Homers and 8 RBI so far tonight for the Mets against the Rockies. Plus, he looks like Willie Mays in the OF compared to Hanley.

Well get over it Ted. He did not want to be here so f*** his lazy bean eating ass.

Yeah, I get it, but we went out and got someone even lazier and more lackadaisical and much more expensive than Cespedes. Lol! At least, we would have been rid of Cespedes after this year.
