I can hardly wait any longer for this. For the record, I made this thread in 2013, the only time I made it, and there was a World Series victory as a result by our beloved Red Sox.

Tomorrow night, people, we begin. Jonny Boy takes the mound for those Beloved Cubbies, who are mightily rejuvenated, and ready to blow it in the final months. In comes those perennial World Series contenders the Cardinals, led by Adam Wainwright. 8:05 PM First Pitch on ESPN2.

The Cubs don't make the playoffs this year.

The Cards will be tough once again and Pittsburgh got better minus the loss of Russell Martin.

Not this year Wonder Boy.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night's game. It should be a good pitcher's duel, something that we likely won't see a lot of with our Sox this year. LOL At any rate, it's very exciting that baseball is finally here. The offseason is far too long!

The Cubbies are probably not quite there yet. Next year they should make the playoffs. Wonder Boy has done an awesome job of rebuilding that franchise, whether people want to give him credit or not.

But the proof remains in the pudding. Until the Cubs win consistently they are just another team that does not win regardless of Theo's machinations.

The bet was for 2014, not forever. :P

I didn't realize that. Don't worry, I'll use my skills wisely.

I looked at the Cubs' depth chart today and I'm not impressed. Not like Sporting News "dis is da year" impressed.

what I want to know is who the f*** OKed the first game of the year being a night game in Chicago. The first two weeks of the season the northern teams should all be on the road down south and out west. Give it a fighting chance to warm up just a bit.

I like the Pirates since they are a shining example of how to build a contender from scratch without much money in a small market. But their pitching may be on a par with the Sox.

Chicago has been warmer than Boston the last few weeks...

Fair enough. If his team isn't a serious playoff contender by next season, I will have to admit that he is not the genius that I give him credit for being.

And since when is Boston in the south or out west?

I just meant that no one was complaining about the Sox home opener even after Boston's once in a lifetime winter.

Is anyone planning on watching the Cubs Cards game tonight?

I am. Lester is pitching and I want to see how he does.

I'm also curious to see what all the hullabaloo is regarding the Cubs. I usually don't follow the NL too closely. But I am Jonesing for baseball now!

Baseball is here! The long, dark offseason is over in two and a half hours. Finally! I have a gigantic bag of Salt and Vinegar chips, a full pack of cigarettes, a twelve-pack of Dr Pepper, and my laptop. Bring on the Cards/Cubs, bitches! GO BASEBALL!

By the way, is it true you are dating Rhonda Rousey?

I had to google that name. Thirty seconds with Google Image Search later, I can say that I am not dating her, but I'd like to.

Absolutely planning on watching the game tonight. How can you not? The Allure of the Cubs is far too strong to keep fans away! LOL

As you said, I am Jonesing for some real baseball! Finally!

Remind me to never get anything from London Lo. Holy s***, she was an unholy abortion singing god bless america

I'm glad that her name did not register in my memory. I had to mute the tv.

Just awful.

Lester is sharp according to the announcers. But s*** is he getting spanked.

What's up with this Solarte (SP) guy in right for the Cubs. He had two early opportunities and butchered both. This guy makes Nava look like Dewey.

So he is one of their shining young stars? Must have a bat.

Genius Joe Maddon has been up late nights reading books about double switches. He's trying to figure out how to do a double switch with a DH. It's enough to make his head explode.
