Yeah, I get it, but we went out and got someone even lazier and more lackadaisical and much more expensive than Cespedes. Lol! At least, we would have been rid of Cespedes after this year.

Letting walk Cespedes was a huge mistake, I was very vocal at the time, even unknowing that Porcello was involved for his trade.

Then I realized that Porcello was the trade chip and I said OMG Ben.

The rest is history. Ben is no longer here.

Hanley has been terrible, but from what I've read recently, he has been working hard at it. You might not think it's important, but at least Hanley wants to be here and he is working at it.

They need to come to the realization that this is a failed experiment. No amount of work will turn this around. I applaud his effort for trying, but I still can't believe the negligence of signing him for 4 years and assuming that he could make the transition. Awful decision making.

f*** Hanley and his bling. He should have been ready by the end of spring training. Making an effort to get ready prior to the season would have been seen as a positive.

Now he has revealed his color to the Boston fans and it is very ugly.

Making excuses for him is laughable. He was never going to be a great OF but he never even made it to average. That is on him. And it is on the Sox for signing the f***ing stiff and allowing him to be s*** for so long.

Dump his lazy ass as soon as possible and move on.

Planning on him being in LF next year is shear stupidity.

Anyone thinking that way should be taken out and shot.

Ben got shot, and at least he knows that he deserved it. He has integrity and is a good guy who can walk and chew gum at the same time, but he screwed up big time. He was probably almost family with ownership as he had been with the organization since his early 20's. They have him every opportunity to succeed. It must have been like firing a son. It had to be done. I'll say it over and over. His record of failure is unprecedented in sports for a high payroll team and unprecedented since pre-Yawkey years for the Red Sox (when they were probably pulling guys out of bars to play).

I was just pointing out that the FO says that he has been working at it, so the accusations of laziness appear to be false. Also, you do not know whether Hanley can turn this around or not, at least to the point of him being a ~3 WAR player.

Mets playing Home Run Derby tonight. They have 6 home runs in the 5th inning.

A certain someone roasted me when I pointed out what a mistake this was when they signed him.

Cespedes had that pesky condition in his contract making him a FA, so his value wasn't very high, but it was higher than Rick Porcello. A #1 pitcher into a #3 pitcher. Thanks, Ben!

I hope that if it was me, that I wasn't too harsh. You were way ahead of the curve. It didn't take me too long to get very concerned about the acquisition. While I was at Spring Training, I did warn that he was going to be a problem in the field. I didn't think his hitting would be such a nonfactor, especially after his 2 Homers on Opening Day.

No, it wasn't you. Common sense says you don't move someone full time from IF to OF at this stage of a career when he's never played a single game. Add in the well documented attitude problems, and why give yourself that headache, especially for four seasons?

12. It's been done twice. Oddly enough, it was the same two teams both times, the Tigers and White Sox

Hawk must have lost his voice that night.

Not sure where to post this.

I just noticed Marcus Strowman is making a rehab start for the Jay's Single A affiliate tonight.

I figured he was done until next year with a reconstructed ACL. Wow.

I hope that all goes well because he is one talented young pitcher. I enjoy watching him play.

Wow! Cespedes is a beast.

Yep. Nats are done. You can't blow a late lead two days in a row and expect to still have a chance.

That's not true, the Yankees had late leads in games 4 and 5 of the 2004 ALCS, and they were already up 3-0, and they still...oh, wait.

I didn't know where to post this, but I nominate Josh Johnson for the Mark Prior Career DL Achievement Award.

Josh Johnson To Undergo Tommy John Surgery

By Jeff Todd [september 16, 2015 at 2:09pm CDT]

2:06pm: Johnson will indeed attempt another comeback, agent Matt Sosnick tells ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick (via Twitlonger). The veteran righty has known of the tear for about ten weeks, but attempted to pitch through it before deciding to have the procedure. Sosnick says that his client will also look into “cutting-edge” medical developments that could prove beneficial in addition to the TJ procedure
