So why keep up the Alonso vs Contreras when you don't even see it that way?

Oh, I know why... you projected more HRs and RBI from Alonso (big gamble there, LOL) and you have to ram home how right you always are.

Again, Alonso, instead of Bregman means Alosno instead of Suarez and $13M from whom?

Hindsight make it easy: Duran + IKF, but I didn't hear you saying that last winter.

If Alonso signs in the first place there is no Con Man. I don’t project anything, because I think projections are useless, and I’ve said that before. Past history tells you all you need to know about Alonso’s durability, and his production, and that’s pretty obvious. Bregman was slotted for more money than what Ranger got anyway. I didn’t say the Red Sox should sign Alonso, and Flintstone before last offseason started?🤔

And immediately after that came:

"That is just simply not true and let me state right now that I do think RBI's are important and a skill to have a nack to put the ball in play when it matters most and guys are on base. I think both those things can be true at the same time, and I happen to believe EXACTLY that"

I think it's fair to say that statement is in no way saying RBI's are not important or desired.

I wasn't meaning that you believed that, but it appeared as if you were saying 'someone' did or might.

So my query--how could.....

I'm changing my mind on this. If Alonso signed here, he woulda FLOPPED! Bad signing. Shouldn't have even made an offer TBH.

Yeah, let’s take the Dodgers and the Mets out out of it and do a Case study on the Phillies and how they can year in and year out now spend more than us.
And taking the bullet out of the proverbial gun, what has that gotten them? I’ll go for a circle and say a lot of home postseason baseball games from 2021 to 2026.. and had the Dodgers not existed in their current form I believe one World Series..

How do the Phillies do it?

The controlling interest of the Phillies has the appetite for it. Zero WS banners since Montgomery took his leave of absence in '14 and Middleton increased his shares. They've been all in since hiring DD late 2020.

John Henry doesn't have the appetite to spend. He just wants to make money. He already has 4 rings. What's a few more to him?

Nobody, again.

Inventing false positions so you can say you were right is a common theme for some posters.

RBIs need context.

Even HRs need context due to park sizes and strength of opponent pitching.

BA, OBP and SLG, too.

Even OPS!!! LOL.

When they list MLB stat leaders daily, or the end of the season like RBI do they just list the numbers they put up, or do they go into context. When they list the all time stat leaders do they just list the numbers they put up like RBI, or do they go into context? I haven’t seen any list with context. Same with Homers, or any other category. 🤔

You crack me up.

You still don't know the difference between a suggestion and prediction.

What was your Alonso and Schwarber ask? A prediction, a suggestion or neither or both?

I agree you are cracked up. You have no idea how many times you’ve been analyzed outside of on here. I don’t know why you are so hung up on a distinction on predictions, or suggestions when one can be just as wrong as the other. I think it’s pretty OBVIOUS when I said I THINK the Red Sox should sign Alonso, and Flintstone.

You can't answer a simple question.

Was your point a prediction or suggestions, because it's worded the same way I word my suggestions and you call me wrong.

Did we get Alonso or Schwarber? No. Then you should be wrong, too. (a prediction)

Instead, you say you were right, because we should have gotten them, (a suggestion)

I'm wrong when my suggestions don't come true, but you are not wrong, even when we both had teh same sugestion.

I know what I just said in incomprehensible to you, so I'll expect some off topic answer or an accusation about some place behind a curtain.

Yes, I'm cracking up with laughter, even though it's not polite to laugh at the insane.

See this is what I mean.Worrying about minute things like this that in the big scheme of things has no significance whatsoever. I’ve been on many, many message boards, or whatever else you want to call them through the years not to mention all the sports talk shows I listened, and watched, and I have NEVER encountered anyone like you. That’s certainly not a good thing either. Someone who analyzes every letter of every word to make an analysis that more often is wrong, or jumps to a conclusion in the first place without even knowing them that someone is a hater just because they said they said they wouldn’t hire Cora back, because he was a cheater.Who else does things like that outside of The Man BEHIND THE CURTAIN . NO ONE. Opinions, suggestions, or predictions oh my. Like one is less wrong than the other. I now you think you are like Sheldon Coper, but in reality it’s more like the last pick in the NFL draft Mister Irrelevant.👋

The back of baseball cards always had additional context either through comics or other disclosures.

I'm glad we got Contreras. It should not have ever been Alonso or Willson, but it may have been for Brez.

I agree on Alonso vs Yoshida as the thought process.

We may not make the playoffs w/o Contreras. His cost was $18M a year with no long term commitments. He even has an option year.

I don’t know if he kept it up all year, but I know at one point Alonso was having the best defensive season of his entire career along with absolutely raking at the plate.

Words have meanings. You like to assign your own.

Seems to me, like you are the one worrying about my motives and thoughts.

I'm just responding to lies and misconceptions. My excuse? I have OCD and lies and misconceptions get me to respond. I wouldn't call it worrying, but if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy, call it anything you want.

Parks they played in? RBI opportunities? What?

I'd have loved Alonso in a Sox uniform.

I think Brez wanted to save money and contract length and wanted Contreras over Pete.

He didn't want to spend $31M on a DH, which is understandable, but we needed a big bat.

Old Red and Moon....they need their own thread.

It's like Ric Flair vs Barry Windham, after 30 minutes they are just getting warmed up!

Instead of comparing the Con-man to Alonso, which is unfair why not compare Alonso to Yoshida?

I think it would have made perfect sense to ship Yoshida out of town and Sign Alonso to be your DH.  Then you have Alonso's bat in your lineup without the glove hurting you.

If youre talking, "if's," I would have just gotten Alonso instead of Bregman. As for Yoshida, Seattle was prepared to take him and Casas for a SP Casillas, if Im not mistaken. We wouldve had Devers with Alonso's protection, and brought Anthony up slowly. No, let's piss off our most talented player instead, but that's ok, Casas will pick up the slack. Bwaa frickin haa.

I believe the story was that Seattle didn’t want Masa. Agree with the rest though.

Yeah, that would've been a lot. I still wanted it, and that was before he got hurt. I actually like Masa.

Raffy, and Alonso would been a good 1-2 punch. Bregman, and Raffy wasn’t bad while it lasted.

Has repeatedly made projections about if the Sox had kept Devers…

What does that mean?

Anthony hasn’t struggled vs MLB pitching; his issue has been injuries.  Is the idea to play him less to reduce the chances he gets hurt?  If so, why not just bench him and remove it completely?

If Anthony has an issue with MLB pitching, it appears he might be a slow starter.  So is the plan here to slow him down even more?
