Why would you have the best hitter in your lineup bunt  to move the runners up for a Mendoza-line hitter?

I just mentioned that after seeing someone complain.  Monasterio is probably overrated as a hitter at this point, but the next three guys are the 7-8-9 hitters, and for a reason.  That's in addition to already being down 2-0 in a game where you don't know how many runs you will need.  I know we're trying to play more small ball, and 'maybe' there is some merit to that.  But I'd rather have Mona trying to drive in runs rather Duran/Seigler/Wong.

And that doesn't even include how much value you lose being down 0-1, and then 0-2.  Bad idea, imo.

$18M and 30 something innings pitched. He was suppose to maybe come back a year ago September.

We are always hesitant to pay the big money yet we get 'nickeled and dimed' on similar contracts as this. I'm sure Moon can easily come up with the money thrown away contracts.

Just disappointing. Any other injured players we can pick up 'hoping' for quick recovery?

It is disappointing after a strong game to see the Sox in a non-competive posture where they are forced to ride along with a meatball vendor on the mound.

A game lost after 3 innings.

38 games to go. Nominal 7 starts per SP +3 fillers.   Hard to see a good outcome

Merloni and Alex Speer are right on about Rafaela…..as he Ks on a ball outside and in the dirt.

He needs to sit for a while. He’s getting tired-just like last year.

Just to confirm what I'm seeing: went back to Gameday on MLB -- in the last two games, Rafaela is 1-for-7 with 5 Ks. Pitt has thrown him 22 pitches... he's swung at 20.

On half of them the problem may be his bat... when instead he needs a shovel.

The reason fans get to complain isn't because we think we're as good as Ceddanne. It's because we're disappointed, since we know how much better he is (but isn't it easy to imagine if any of us stood in the box and took a level swing in the zone as soon as the pitcher picked up his front foot that one or two pitches out of 20 might eventually hit our bats?)

All of us would undoubtedly suck worse than Rafaela has in terms of plate discipline. But he’s a professional baseball player. He’s expected to do his job well just like the rest of us are expected to do OUR jobs well. He did a good job for a long time but just like last year he’s tailing off, as I predicted.

Duran actually has consecutive games with hits.

The rally has started

STFU, Wong should hit in every game.

Letting Sandy Not Koufax dig this big a hole is on the talent limited Tracy

He just read my post and looked like a pro hitter again: took two pitches, then barreled a fly to center. This could be the turning point!

PLEASE DFA SOGARD. He’s literally just a wannabe Roman Anthony who adds nothing to the game besides another automatic minor-leaguer out.

Now we just have to fix Rutchsman.

Burgos looks way better than Sandoval. Not even close.

yet there has been no talk that I am aware of on on extending 15 game winner Sonny Gray.. Better to go find the next Sandavol because the 5-6 other guys in similar situations we took a flier on worked out so well.

Why is he even playing? Theres no reason for him not to be playing at Polar Park.

Duran. Damon could not throw a ball through your picture window

Nor a fine crystal goblet.

Think of Manny's cut off.
