Currently hot with the WooSox.  Possible short term solution to get another right handed hitter in the lineup? Just sayin.  Maybe we get the real version now?

July with the WooSox, hitting .364, 2 home runs, 9 rbi, and a strike out to walk ratio 12/11 over the course of 15 games.  He will be hard to move for value in a trade based on the stats you provided, and we are on the hook for big $$$.  Thinking could this be his time like so many slow growers that did well across baseball history?  Small call up risk with potential dividends?

And where would you put him?

If he gets called up, it’s likely because someone got hurt…

I don’t see him being called up even if RAF Man, or Abreu got hurt especially with a playoff berth at stake.

Couldn’t help but notice you didn’t mention Duran…

IDK you have that albatross contract on him either bring him up, or try to trade him right now. If you can’t trade him, bring him up and let him take JD’s AB’s for the next 10 games see what happens? Not a whole lot to lose in terms of production a .491 OPS last 14 days.

I would hold KC until the next ST whenever that comes about.  Bring him to Boston now and if he goes all deer in the headlights then he will be permanently brain fried.

Or he could have a month or so like his April 2025 and later we can trade him in the off season, mostly because there is no position that he excels enough at to warrant a long term decision.

That would be an innovative approach and right now you are correct that it would not take much to outperform Mr. Duran, sadly

The Red Sox are in a playoff hunt now, and to me that’s no time for a tryout. I don’t see Duran losing any AB right now except for JJ against LHP, and certainly not to a KC.

Duran does get an occasional RBI despite his low BA.

He has more RBI than every Red Sox not named Willson.

Depending on IKF, Mayer and Story's timetables, I'm not sure KC would be called up before Cheng or Eaton. Hell, maybe Harris gets the call before KC.

Don't fall for that.

Name the Sox player with more Ks.

Name any  Sox player with 230+ PAs and a lower OPS than Duran. While you're at it, name one MLB player with over 400 PAs and a lower BA, OBP or OPS. (Duran is 5th worst in SLG)

What's interesting about the RBI numbers is this:

Abreu (229) Rafaela (187) Contreras (181) and Durbin (166) have more PAs with Men on Base than Duran's 163. All but Abreu have better BAs (some bu 50-60 points) than Duran and much better OPS: .988 Contreras, .843 Rafaela, .758 Durbin to Duran's .711 OPS.

Duran is 3rd in PAs w RISP

121 Abreu (.744 OPS) .232 BA

111 Contreras (1.090 OPS) .326 BA

109 Duran (.884 explains it) but .270 BA is 4th in these 5.

102 Durbin (.824) .289 BA

98 Rafaela (.920) .330 BA

Still not worst, though.

1. Story

2. Yoshida

3. Bello

4. Campbell

Not long ago, some might have put Sandoval above KC.

Duran makes more money this year than KC makes in 2026, 2027 and half od 2028.
