I have issues with Abreu getting picked off and with Monasterios awful steal attempt where he didn’t even slide 

Monasterio’s steal/non-slide was kind of dumb.  I can get not sliding because he just injured his plant foot with a foul ball, but then why run?

Abreu was being too aggressive but also expecting a bunt to get laid down…

These guys have mostly had 10+ years to "learn fundamentals." One could argue, it might be too late to effect a big improvement, and certainly it can't be done overnight.

I think the issue is fans get unreasonable expectations and have no patience.  BA has been scouting and publishing prospect list for decades. But younger players get rushed to MLB faster now more so out of economic necessity.

Mayer has 208 career PA.  Campbell has 263 career PA.  Anthony has 400 career PA (and is still only 21).  Some players don’t hit right away.  500 PA into his career and Mike Schmidt was still batting under .200.  If I was ok for Schmidt, it’s ok for these three…

You are better off just admittibg you were wrong about both guys.  Henderson was 8th in MVP voting in 2023, and 4th in MVP voting in 2024.  Tatis has finished 4th, 3rd, 14th and 8th in MVP voting and is a 3x AS.

It is hard to believe that you want to continue to insist the world is flat.

I'm sure Story's benching today had NOTHING to do with the fact that he spoke out against AC's firing.  Because to suggest such a thing, would be to imply that the FO is petty, vindictive, mean-spirited, etc., and of course there is no history of them ever being like that.

Could it be that one of the worst batters on the team, who was leading the team in games played and PAs was just given a day off in the middle of 13 games in 13 days?

He probably should have already had a couple other days off.

Who knows?  Story had started every game this year, the only player to do so, so maybe he was due for a day off.  Could be he was so amped up he really would have been of less use than usual.

One thought though, the last left side infielder who got upset at the front office was sent to the West Coast pretty quickly.  I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

Between RHB Story & Durbin and LHB Mayer, Story still seems good enough to play near FT, at least vs LHPs, but it should be 2B.

I think Story will be fine.  He's gone through these streaks far too often.

But I hope he realizes that NO ONE is going to be sympathetic to him or the other players.  They were the ones that got him fired.  I think Crochet summed it up well saying he took some responsibility for Cora getting fired.

One notable difference today.  In the 6th, Mayer was left in to face a lefty and promptly delivered an RBI single.  He later made an outstanding catch of a foul pop.

Cora would have pinch hit for him with who knows what results and I doubt Durbin or Monastario makes that catch to steal an out.
