24 hours ago, Monasterio had a .544 OPS and fans wanted him replaced by Cheng, et al.  I believe someone suggested we play with only 25 guys on the roster.  If he gets one more hit, fans will want him to bat cleanup.

And if he strikes out twice in the game, they will want him back in the minors.

He’s good hitting 8th or 9th.

Teddy and Also seem to disagree.

well when you make an out(the first of the inning) at 3B trying to tag up, you are not displaying sound fundamentals.Don't get me started on getting picked off first base to start an inning.

except you got nothing to offer except poss. the future at SS or Pitching, besides the Sox got plenty of .200 hitters like Henderson

You could have had those when Walker was free to play 1B this winter

I like aggressive baserunning. I do not like stupid baserunning. There is a big difference.

It is a growing problem with the media these days hyping these young kids is not a science, Henderson with the Orioles is a player not living up to the hype. Where has Tatis disappeared to? According to the pundits he was the best thing since sliced bread. Pedro Jr. is a good solid player but his power has gone elsewhere. I think the Red Sox are hardly alone with these future stars not quite lining up like we were told.

Tatis was busted for PEDs.  Had nothing to do with the press.

Henderson has the 3rd highest bWAR among SS's over the past three years, and the #7 overall highest fWAR.

Were you trying to be sarcastic?

He beat the throw but slid off the base.  That's smart baserunning, but a sloppy slide.

Seriously??? great base running

I interpreted that as you didn't like the aggressive, but correct, move to tag and go to 3rd.

not the correct move, not when it is the 1st out of an inning!

my bad it was the winter before

He wasn’t very good last year either. People were talking about it being a bad contract.

stop making excuses, bad slide, same FUNDAMENTALS

I mean, it takes more than one morning to fix fundamentals.

Many fans think a smart play is when the runner is successful, and a dumb play when they are not.  In the play I earlier referenced, the runner tagged to go to 3rd where he could score on an out.  That was the smart play.  It didn't become stupid just because his slide pulled him off the base.

And had he not tagged up, the same people that criticized for tagging up, would have criticized him for not being aggressive enough.

Would it change your mind if it wasn't the first out of the inning?

Also took a really good play by the OF running all out towards the line (away from the throw), whirling and making a pretty good throw.  It was a smart attempt by Rafaela.

The dumb part was Ceddnne doing a pop up slide there.  Stay on the ground and he stays safe.

Plus it was the second out of the inning.  The first was the OF catching the ball.

You are, of course, correct.  He did exactly what he was supposed to do.  Too many people think a play, or anything in life, is smart only if it is successful.

I don’t have a problem with Rafaela trying to go to third and I’m not even sure he was actually out, it was a fine aggressive play.

I have issues with Abreu getting picked off and with Monasterios awful steal attempt where he didn’t even slide

I do not care  about WAR, the stat freaks are the ones ruining the game

1.  Not caring about WAR doesn’t change that Tatis is still an elite player.

2. Tatis hit .268/.368/.442 last year with 32 HRs, won his second Gold Glove and finished 8th in MVP voting, and it wasn’t even one of his better years. How is that not living up to the hype?
