You'd trade Bello because the return would be greater than a return for Crawford plus potpourri.  Dealing Campbell now could be dealing him at his lowest value. At least let him reclaim some valu

The offseason is not over, and it's likely a pitcher will be moved.  But here is your non 1-5 starting rotation Kyle Harrison/Patrick Sandoval/Kutter Crawford/Connelly Early/Payton Tolle.  K

Pretty formidable rotation. Now need at least one defensive addition to 2b/3b. Preferably 2.  At least one needs to be a trade to clear the log jamb they got going of fringe players

Certainly 2 thru 4 is very strong, with many strong options for number 5 and depth to trade from.

Breslow did say -- after just losing Bregman -- that another way to improve was to focus on pitching and defense.

Plus, being a ground-ball pitcher, himself, Brez knows the importance of having a 2013 Pedroia...

Yeah there is a pretty glaring hole at 2B right now, especially if Mayer is playing 3B

Marte is pretty good at 2b…. Pretty decent bat as well! Donavan would be great as well if we didn’t have to give up Tolle/Early. 

** (I’m aware the Dbacks say Marte isn’t available, I just don’t believe it)

option A: Marte for Casas+ Campbell+ Tolle/Early. 

Option B: Donavan for Casas+ Campbell.

Yes I would say this most likely was a pivot, and wouldn’t have happened if Bregman would have signed. He turns 31 in Aug so we’ll see how this turns out. Last time there was a pivot Masa got signed after losing Bogey.

Nice!  This should appease Red Sox fans, after being disappointed, understandably so, about missing out on Bregman and some others.  It makes me happy, for sure.  Suarez really, really solidifies our starting rotation.

With the addition of Suarez, I'd be fine with the Red Sox focusing more on a strong defensive 2nd baseman as opposed to one with a stronger bat.

This is another one of those deals that I would prefer to be 1 or 2 years shorter, but I think it needed to be done.  Time will tell how well he holds up towards the end of his contract.

He's 30, so it's not all that bad.

Maybe this quiets those who say no more long deals given.

I’m kind of shocked that they did give any FA pitcher turning 31 a 5 year contract. As you said time will tell.

Not a bad pitcher, but I had a lot of confidence in Crochet, Sonny, Tolle, and Bello

If they trade Tolle, Ill lose my sh*t
