And once again the Red Sox wouldn’t be in such a big need for production bats if they hadn’t traded Devers Forevers.🤔

The 10 year deal was basically "forvers," but that didn't last for any longer than the Gio deal.

thumbs dow for word "arguably"

he is arguably the best position playing ranger of all time (especially if you dont count juangon), he is certainly the best ranger of today.

Best position playing Ranger of all time?  Let me run that one by Alex Rodriguez.

I agree he is the best Ranger today, but they’re an 81-81 team.  That might not be the honor you think it is…

Sure.  I dont think of Beltre as a ranger, but maybe I should. He did have a lot of years there, I just think of him as a dodger and a mariner first.  Palmeiro, albeit with a longer career than Juangon, to me is essentially juangon.  Same team. I use to follow that team cuz i wa enamored with all the power.  Both confirmed cheaters. Disappointing. But if we are dinging both for roids, palmeiro of course is higher.  I do kinda think of palmeiro as an oriole.  Dunno much about buddy bell, thats a blidspot for me.  You wont catch me saying a bad word about my tribesman Ian Kinsler.

Palmeiro is Juan Gone?

Palmeiro is on the very short list of players with 3,000 hits and 500 HRs.

Juan Gone is not unimpressive and is on the short list of two time MVPs not in the Hall.  But unlike Palmeiro, his entry into Cooperstown was not initially due suspicion of steroid usage…

Thats fine, If I read right now that the Red sox traded Cedanne, Campbell and Harrison for Seager with no money eaten, Id be popping bottles.

I feel like a politician who expected to win but lost and has all these bottles of champagne in the back and just nobody wants to drink em.  I really expected us to be high fiving over alonso right now. But I know the dangers of too many eggs in one basket and tried to prepare myself. But im disappointed.

The thing that gets me is that plan B (K Marte) will cost players/prospects and cash, when Alonso was just cash.

What's plan C, because chances are plan B ain't happening. either.

Bregman and Polanco?

Plan D? Suarez and Polanco?

We're gonna outbid two teams? LMAO!

We should have signed him after the 2021 season (that may have been one of my first posts over here).  Play him at 1st base now that the GM has failed at the Alonso signing.

I still can't believe that the Yankees whiffed on him.  He'd have been perfect for them.  And even with $189M left, I could still make a case for them trading for him.

He didn't have enough years to qualify TBH. He was only there for 3 years.

If Alonso was Plan A, the Sox would have signed him.

If Texas is asking for Tolle and Mayer, thats a big step down…

Seager only has four

Alonso may have been Plan A, but Brez was waiting to see if he was going to be on mark down. I’m just guessing here, but the Red Sox probably came in with the lowest offer.

There were only two offers, so it was obviously the lowest one. Mets declined to offer.

Not if they honestly believed their offer had a chance

Amazing there was such a small market for him.

I would like to think they didn’t really believe that.

Says a lot then that he jumped at an offer that was the same as Schwarber's, but 1M more per year. Orioles outbid themselves it seems.

But Marte comes with $14m less a year on the LT hit. $31m takes out almost all the remaining budget and we'd still have holes to fill,

I'm not sure that Alonso (or Schwarber) was ever very high on their list.

Almost all of Bres' moves have not been telegraphed. His trades (and some of his FA's) often surprise.

Corey Seager wasn't close to being on my top 5 all time Rangers.

It depends on the wording.

”Best position playing Ranger.”  I go Palmeiro.

””Best position player to play for the Rangers”   Thats ARod easily…

I read that it was rumored the Angels offered 4/$100M with opt-outs.

I have no idea who is high on their list.  And even what it means when they’re “interested” in a player.  Is that internal discussions?  Negotiations? Clickbait?  No idea…

That's like calling Rafael Devers the face of mediocre Red Sox teams 2022-24.

The Mets’ lack of interest is intriguing.  They refused to go beyond one year last time.  Why does the team that knows him best show so little interest?

It's definitely harder than ever to know/guess. The fact we made no offer to Schwarber and apparently a pitiful one to Alonso would indicate we weren't high on either of them.

Or, that Craig just massively misread the market for Pete.

Apparently they've been banging the drum about wanting to get better defensively. That would align with passing on Alonso.

Boston might have had the same idea.  If there is any truth to inquiries about Marte and Seager, it does support that idea…
