Ok so his name was Syrio Florel.

I suppose his friends could have called him Florio, if anyone did.  Certainly his enemies couldn’t, as they were probably all dead, since he was the First Sword of Braavos…

Syrio: "What do we say to the god of death?"

Arya: "Not today."

Florio: "Regardless of what you’re doing to address it, is your fear coming to fruition?”

Arya: "My dad's head got lobbed off, so yeah."

Hodor: "May I get that door for you?"

Arya: "Sure."

Nymeria: "I drink and I know things." *winks at camera

TOR and Vladdy with a big statement game, tonight!

Toronto struggles to score in their home ballpark, then puts up 13 runs in a "pitcher's ballpark" on the road.  Baseball is a funny game.

BTW Bell, that was a boring game, IMO.

Hopefully, both the Jays and the Brewers will at least make a series out of it.

On the bright side, ticket prices for Thursday's game have plummeted on the secondary market.😉

This Seattle fan will witness a Luis Castillo start for the second time this offseason.

I'm happy for you Harmony.  Enjoy the game!

Vladdy coming alive after a kinda rough season.

Blue Jay fans were chanting “MVP, MVP” at every Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at-bat Thursday evening.

Of the series, yes.

In 70 years of life this Mariner fan has attended two LCS games, both in Seattle.

Last night 41-year-old Max Scherzer shut down the Mariners while 25 years ago 38-year-old Roger Clemens shut down the Mariners on a one-hitter in the 2000 American League Championship Series:

Baseball has changed as Scherzer went 5.2 innings on 87 pitches while Clemens tossed a complete game on 138 pitches.

I still like your team's chances, but you need a momentum changer.

The Brewers scored 1 run in each game for a total of 4.  Brutal!

But the Brewers were second to the the Dodgers in NL runs per game and led the majors in Ws -- even though they hit less home runs than the Red Sox!

So who needs homers... except anyone who wants to win in the postseason.

The Dodgers also have 4 starting pitchers they're paying about $2 billion that are all healthy at the same time.

A lockout is coming after 2026 for sure.

Only LA with its kajillion dollar TV contract can afford to stockpile aces they rest all during the summer, just to get ready for the postseason.

2025 Games Started: Glasnow 18, Ohtani 14, Snell 11.

With frenemies like that, who needs openers.

the Dodger$ did $pend a lot of ca$h to build thi$ team. and a$ you pointed out, they have the revenue to do $o.

i found this Payroll/ Revenue chart on X. if you're looking for the RedSox, they're down near the bottom, despite the fact they have 4th highest revenue. i wonder what Henry does with the $332 million NOT spent on payroll??

Big letdown for the team that clearly won the regular season.

The Union will never approve of a salary cap -- but don't take the paying public for granted.

At least give the fans a beer and pretzel cap.

They may accept some form of a cap, if there is also a substantial floor set in place, as well.

There are currently 4 teams under $32M, which is 1/8th of what the Dodger spend AAV. Another 6 teams are between $39M and 48M.

If they cap team spending at around $200M, but make the floor around $50M, players would not see a drop in total money spent.

The union should focus on getting more of their players into midrange deals than just a few making ungodly sums, while so many make the min to less than $2M/yr.

Expanding the ML roster to 27 or 28 and the 40 to 42 or more would bring more players into significant salary increases.

Lessing the pre-arb years is another way to get players making more money, sooner.

There are many ways to get gains to offset a hard or soft cap set up.

Ohtani with a game for the ages last night. Pitched the pennant clincher, with six shutout innings with ten strikeouts  and just two hits , while slamming three big home runs. Has anyone ever had a better game than that ?

Not even close, and the game was the clincher one, as well.

I am not a hockey fan, mostly because I've just never taken the time to watch much of it, but I've read that it is the second most random sport behind baseball.  Maybe I'll have to take it up as a winter sport.

In the NBA, the better team wins a playoff series 80% of the time.  In the MLB, series would have to be 75 games long in order to achieve that same percentage.  In the NHL, the series would have to be 61 games long.

Oh for sure. Puck Luck is very real, so many goals happen on deflections.

I was never a big hockey guy, I'm in Maryland not New England so it's just never been big here. I'd watch the Capitals until their annual choke job in the playoffs., those were the only games I watched.  But then they drafted a player who would end up scoring more goals than anyone in the history of the game so it was easy to get onboard.  It's a beautiful game when played well.

Am i the only one rooting for the blue jays? I think they have a better shot than the mariners against the dodgers. Hope they win tomorrow.

The Red Sox choose to not have 5 aces. They have more than enough money. They just use it on real estate development.

You guys are just fanists, taking fanist views. Just because you pay good money to go to Red Sox games or watch them on screens, why do you deserve a legitimate contender?

When you go to a restaurant, do you expect good food? Isn't the atmosphere enough? If you buy a new car, does it have to take you where you want to go? Can't you just sit in it, look good, and hum "Sweet Caroline" while doing the wave...

No doubt, the money is there to be spent with a big fat profit, no matter how much we spend.

It's the way of the world.

JH being cheap is the way of the new Red Sox.

Maybe.

His history is full of ups and downs on spending, and last winter was a big up.

The devers dump and Breggie opt out throws it all back in doubt, but none of us know how much this winter's budget will be.
