That's interesting... how much does fangraphs say 1 WAR is worth nowadays? I know there's some formula somewhere.

$8.2M last season.

If the Sox offered him 5M, he probably signs. Sox were probably happy at 2.

Thanks for yet another non answer.

Seems to me the non answer at this time is from Brez. Like I said he’s had since last Oct to work on Roster construction. I don’t really care either what happens with either Duran, or Abreu that many seem to be so worried about. I believe someone has already said Brez seems to be at an impasse, which shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Paredes can play 1B, and they could bench $20M Walker, instead.

If Yordon is on the IL, IP can DH.

Walker had a 2nd half .799 last year, and benching a $20M player on OD is bad optics for a GM.  I mean, they have reasons to keep him, but they won't look good if Paredes is on the bench and they are short one OF.

$8.2 -- holy... so half of 1 WAR is worth $4.1 mil, and 0 WAR is 0 mil -- the wage of a replacement player?

Maybe the Red Sox should pay all of us replacement players a hundred thousand each to just stop squawking.

Yes, they will not bench Walker.

IP will be traded to _____.

Mickey Gaspar claimed off waivers. That's one roster slot.

We await the wrath of Fred.

42 career innings at 2b.  A new name has entered the race!

He's a switch hitter, too, except for the "hit" part of the word.

The catcher depth, I guess.

Gasper will find enough playing time in WOO. While the pitching down there is outstanding, the hitting is pretty rough. Aside from KC, Romero and Sogard, it has a lot of guys that probably won't have MLB impact (and that's stretching it for Sogard).

Who's next? Braiden Ward?

If Ward and Hamilton were on the same roster in AAA, it would be like the mid 80's Cardinals. Ward hasn't always hit, so we'll see how he does in WOO.

Can he be sent down? I like him on 40 man, as minor league roster depth, especially if hes the third catcher on our 40 man (not including Contreras). Usually need to add a third catcher at some point

I read he has "options remaining."

makes sense to me then, until/if someone better comes along

I doubt we trade for a catcher, so "better comes along" would be via waivers.

Anybody know anything about Casey Schmitt on SFG?

.720 w 18 HRs in 460 PAs since 2024 (3B/2B)

We could swap underwater contracts and...

Duran + Masa for Schmitt & R Ray (use in pen?)

the way we were shafted on the Devers trade, they should just give us a few decent players.

He'd be fine as a utility guy, but I get the feeling this is it.

So this signing puts us over the $250M mark and maybe $10M below the next tax line.

Paredes just signed for under $10M, so I'm gonna keep hoping against hope...

We were shafted, or shafted ourselves?🤔

That's how badly I want to rid this team of Masa.

(Okay, not that badly. I would not do this trade.)

Well they got rid of Hicks, but getting rid of Masa is a lot bigger task at hand.

True nuff, but you thought getting rid of Hicks was a dream, too.

Trading for Robbie Ray one-on-one might work. (We could add Mullins or maybe someone as high as Eyanson with Drohan thrown in. Of course, we can always add DHam... LOL)
