Can you provide actual details?

We get they’re “23rd in revenue spent on the roster”, but what does that mean?  Cash value or percentage?  And how tight is the range?

Like if we find out the Sox are 23rd because they spend 10% on their roster, but if they spent 12%, they’d rank 5th, I’m going to use ChatGPT’s evil twin sight SlapGPT to deliver a CYBER-knuckle sandwich via e-mail (not a real threat)…

It’s in this link:

after signing IKF and Rogers why would we trade an asset for Pareded especially after giving 6 million for IKF

$6 million is bench bat money, Rogers is playing in AAA.

Trust me: Rodger’s will be our starting 2Bman. Breslow is counting on him to contribute with an OPS well over .800.
Besides, he’s someone Henry the Cheap is willing to pay for.

If Rodgers was signed to be the starting 2Bman, why didn't they sign him to a MLB contract?

Per Speier:

Cubs have discussed trades that would send Duran to CHC for an IF (Shaw or Hoerner). Sox are unwilling to give up Early.

I really really like Early a lot, but if the Sox open the season with IKF as the starting 2nd baseman it' comes to light that Sox were unwilling to give up Early.....he better turn into a solid #2 or higher.

Caleb Durbin - doesn't hit the ball hard, does pull the ball, doesn't chase, doesn't whiff, walks a lot

Depends on the trade. If they are asking one for one, sure. If it was Early as a throw in, then not a fair assessment.

I want the Sox to hang on to him -- not because he might be a good pitcher, but so that every time he starts all season, posters get to type It's still Early.

I mean, I get it, but is that worth having a black hole in the infield?

I think you mean in the batting order. We just picked up some professional infielders with gold gloves... and lead bats.

The reasons Breslow hasn't filled in the Mariana Trench in the heart of the order is that he can't or won't.

He just values his players more than the guys that are available.

Multiple industry sources identified Brewers IF Caleb Durbin as Sox target

Durbin it is! Durbin comes, and Harrison goes. 6 player trade also involves DHam.

yeah, he could if he wants to pay the price of admission.

Does NOT hit the ball hard, will pull it though. Was good at 3b after playing mostly 2b in MiLB. I like the approach. He's our new short king at 5' 7".

I was just about to post as well - this is how difficult it is to make a trade.

I like the control, almost 3 WAR s a rookie, but man, we are going to be lacking in the power department unless Mayer taps into something this year.

Yes! Our new number THREE hitter!!!

He'd be a good #2 hitter behind Duran TBH. Fast. Takes a walk.

Yuuuuup...

If Casas comes back healthy and replaces Masa in June?

If Abreu's HR totals continue to head closer to 30?

Aside from Contreras, really not much power from the right side. I don't see Romy continuing to hit RHP very well.

I take it back. He mostly batted 7th last year. But I like him #2 because he doesn't strike out, and can run: 18 SBs.

As long as Anthony bats after him and isn't wasted trying to drive in the bottom of the order who are sitting in the dugout.

I promise I won't criticize Breslow if our starting rotation throws shutouts half the season to keep us in the games.

And not just Crochet-Suarez-Gray-Bello-Oviedo, but when all of them get hurt, our deep depth of Crawford--Sandoval-Early-Tolle-Harrison-Bennett-Witherspoon has to be good, too -- and not just average...

... because the MLB average ERA last year was 4.15 -- and our offense as-is may not outscore that number very often.

Its crossed my mind.  The Red Sox , as currently constructed - could still change, are built on the strategy of never giving up a run.  If executed, its a strategy that will surely work, despite the fact that we'll be in for some 17 inning 1-0 victories.

However, in order for the strategy to have a chance, its incredibly important that our #8 pitcher is a true ace and we have 6 top closers.

Personally, I think it would have been easier to just get a couple bats and maybe we still will, but Ill get sucked in if they are winning.  Always do.

Yeah, but my feeling is we aren't sending one of the outfielders anywhere, so it'll be Raf, Duran, Anthony and Abreu rotating around the DH, which means Casas won't even be replacing Masa, but one of them - something I don't see happening.

the roster is still very much a an odd conception right now. I must say though, in a vacuum I do like this kid.

I think he'll be taking 3rd. Mayer to 2nd in platoon with Romy.

We’ll see on that as the Red Sox have already said they would rather put Mayer at 3B.
