Cora says story is the 2026 shortstop.

That's sooooo Cora.

Probably told him he's the SS for life.

Probably told Casas he's the 1Bman for life.

Yes to a trade of a good position player for a good position player.

Absolute no to Abreu plus any MLB-ready starting pitcher, especially Early.

That kind of deal reminds me of when the Mets were coming off a World Series win and acquired a 23-year old starter from the Royals for basically a back-up catcher named Ed Hearn -- who wound up playing 13 total games in KC and was out of baseball by age 27.

Meanwhile, the Mets players couldn't believe they got David Cone, who by the time he was 25 went 20-3, was an NL All-Star and finished 3rd in Cy Young voting.

How does Marte compare to a back up catcher? Not exactly like for like there.

I'm not sure how I feel about trading away Early for him, but I am hoping we spend prospect capital one way or another (and we will). After all, the vast majority of prospects lead to very little. If the conditions are right, you always take the proven thing.

Baseballtravevalue rates this trade as a fair trade.

Red Sox get:

Braden Montgomery/Kyle Teel/Chase Meidroth/WIkleman Gonzalez

White Sox Get:

Garrett Crochet

Cora's favorite movie is The Sandlot where legends never die. And his favorite food is honey because it never spoils. But he's not in love with Supreme Court jesters, who all have seats for life.

Can we spin those guys for Skubal?

Well, we could use Teel…

Then why didn’t he like “The Neverending Story”?

I mean besides the obvious reasons that no one did…

A 3 game series ( 4 for 7) squares him up?

i never said that. just implying that he needs to replaced before we dump him.  i was against the signing from day 1

Stop complaining. It's the offseason and we have nothing else going on.

Alex is just confused like the rest of us. Until last season, AC thought the title was The Nevermending Story.

Now, when he's about to change it to Leftside Story, someone notes that the Sharks and the Jets are just amateur nines with maybe a few college prospects... definitely not NHL vs. NFL teams (that does not compute).

FWIW Baseball Trade Values apparently has upped Triston Casas' surplus value from 0 to $13.5 million:

Strange.

Has a health update come out?

To me, if he's 100%, he's worth over 3 times $13M. If he's not, closer to zero.

Then, if he is healthy, can he stay healthy?

First baseman Triston Casas, who suffered a season-ending patellar tendon injury May 2 that required surgery, is rehabbing in Fort Myers.

It still is to be determined whether he’ll be ready for the start of spring training.

“I’m always reluctant to put timelines on things that are months away because I feel like you either meet them and everything is OK or you don’t sometimes for no reason other than things pop up and there’s questions about what the setback was,” Breslow said. “I think Triston is anticipating being ready for spring training. Exactly what that looks like, we’ll find out. But he’s moving around really well and he’s committed to living in Fort Myers for the offseason to make sure that he gets the treatment and support that he needs.”

Other injury updates:

Anthony is expected to have an unrestricted, healthy offseason.

“Should start swinging in a couple of weeks, which is just normal for his offseason,” Breslow said at the GM Meetings here at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

“Because once we didn’t have games to play, the need to accelerate the timeline obviously didn’t exist,” Breslow said. “And so we were able to take a little bit more conservative route just to make sure that everything was fully healed. But the most important thing right now, obviously, is that he is fully healthy and is having an unrestricted offseason.”

Infielder Marcelo Mayer, who underwent wrist surgery in August, might have been able to return if the Red Sox had made it deeper into the postseason.

“Marcelo’s been making great progress to the point that he was pushing to get back in time if we would have continued deeper into the postseason,” Breslow said. “But he’s having a good offseason out on the West Coast, getting bigger and stronger.”

Righty Richard Fitts, who missed the final 30 games of the season with right arm neuritis, “is throwing and is going into the offseason with no limitations,” Breslow said.

Righty Hunter Dobbins, who underwent surgery in August to repair a torn ACL, has begun a full throwing program.

Royals are scouring the outfield trade market apparently.

Who would likely come back from them in a trade for Duran?

Biancalana

Pecota

Bubic, but he has one year of control.

They might look to trade Lugo or Wacha- maybe Estevez, but I'm not sure we want the back ends of their contracts.

I don't want 2Bman India.

Witt is untouchable.

Yes.  The Sox new strategy is to score more runs and give up fewer runs.  But it’s top secret so don’t tell anyone or post it onli… oops

The royals have 2 prospects that I would love for us to have.
the first is Carter Jensen, a catcher that I think played in kc in September. Can hit the ball some!!  Not sure about the defense.

the second is David shield, a pitcher. Not a huge power arm like Tolle. But could develop into a mid 90’s guy with control and secondaries!

Yeah Sox trade an all star for 2 prospects?? Life comes at us fast. We back to 2022?

Now, if we flipped those prospects for Ryan, okay.

This is quite likely the route to getting Duran involved with a trade for a No2 like Ryan. The Twins won't want him if they're in rebuild mode. They'd prefer a Tolle and Garcia (plus more) type offers.

Not sure on the Tigers outfield strength, but Duran could match up with them better for Skubal, as they're still in their window.

All the noise coming out of the meetings so far is that its strictly between Red Sox and Phillies for Schwarber.

I'd love him, but it's such an awkward match for our roster.
