Next up... (this winter) ... Yoshida.

Very unlikely.  Releasing Yoshida would cost Boston nearly $40mill, a far cry from the $3-4 mill Buehler had left on his deal.  Plus Yoshida is optionable, which does have value.  Oh, and Cora seems to like playing him…

Is it Cora or bres-slow that is playing yoshida???

He will wind up with a contender very shortly…

Yeah,  I was thinking he might be a key veteran bullpen piece for us in Postseason. Like he was for Dodgers last year.

Also, Jh Garcia demoted and Sogard promoted.

Questionable because September callous are 3 days away, but the Ghost cannot be recalled for 10 days (barring injuries, doubleheaders, and the usual loopholes..

Brez has to do the dirty work for Cora and keep Yoshida off the 26.

I'd clear his spot off the 40, this winter, no matter what the sunken cost is.

no matter--we need to find a way to get rid of Yoshida.  send him to Bloom

Yoshida and Campbell + Mullins for Keller & Reynolds and some cash.

Wow! I mentioned this as a possibility, but figured we'd send Bernardino down for 3 days, instead.

Heck, I thought you were predicting it.  Good call.

I don't especially like Sogard, but he makes more sense than Garcia.

Does Breslow make out lineups?

not familiar with either

Keller is a decent #3 SP'er making decent money. Reynolds is grossly overpaid for like 5 more years, but he's better than Masa.

Hasn’t Keller had an awful August???

Yeah, like I said in the game thread, the Sox are being hyper aggressive about maximizing talent in the dugout. Finding a way to deep-six Yoshida was my next thought too. I kind of like the guy and his style, and that 9th inning HR in Yankee Stadium will live forever in Sox lore, but he is not 2025 Red Sox material.

Like everyone else, I'm surprised to hear this.  I thought he'd be given a longer chance in the pen.  I guess it came down to a roster crunch.

Unlike everyone else, I'm not so eager to get rid of Yoshida.  That said, it's hard to defend his performance thus far.

We're keeping Dustin May over Buehler? What a joke

The Sox are doing Walker a solid.

Released means he can rejoin the Dodgers before Sept. 1.

If so, he'll be on a mound in a meaningful moment this autumn... hopefully, not vs. Boston, where few have the patience to take a base on balls.

Buehler had more chances than he deserved to right his ship.

It capsized, leaving us with sunken cost and an SOS signal that Tolle will attempt to answer.

Unfortunate.  I had no problem with the signing and I'm sure Buehler gave it everything he had, but his arm is not what it was after all the surgeries.

He might have a late career resurgence, but we could not wait for that.

I don't really understand this move.  They should have release Hicks or sent him down.  I trust Buehler more than Hicks any day to pitch 1 inning.
