I would rather lose 7-2

than blow this  one due to crappy pitching

Are you kidding?  Yes, Crochet had a lousy night, but it was terrific the way the Sox came back with some huge hits, especially Anthony's 2 run dinger in the 7th to make 7-6.

Plus we got to see Cora make some great moves with the lineup, like Yoshida pinch-hitting for Narvaez in the 7th, which then allowed Wong to hit in the 9th and get that double.

There are 2 good hitters on this team and only 2--Anthony and Bregman.  And Anthony has just 51 games of MLB experience.  Duran and Abreu aspire to be good.  Cora also wants to keep Story, Rafaela, and Gonzalez in the lineup.

I also like the 6 runs because in the next 2 games the Sox need to be scoring runs.

Crochet wasn’t sharp, but the way the Astros were on everything in the 3rd and 4th, one has to wonder if he was tipping somehow.

Have to be a little concerned about the drop in velocity after the 2nd as well

Not kidding. Why does LOSING  by any amount give you some comfort.

Why not just get a participation trophy and ice cream after the game.

I hate to lose because some players cannot execute their skills

I heard what sounded like trash cans being pounded with a hammer.

Before tossing four innings Monday, Garrett Crochet had already reached a career high of 148.1 innings in a single season.

Whitlock and Chapman. The others, you just hold your breath.

4th in RP fWAR

5th in RP ERA

3rd in RP HR/FB, HR/9

Not sure what you're holding your breath for. Overall, they've been pretty good in comparison to the rest of the league.

He's at his career high in IP right now. He's going to have to work through it.

Yes. You don't get rankings like that based on just two guys, for sure.

I can see not counting Slaten, since he is rehabbing, but we have some decent numbers from other RP'ers not named Chapman & Whitlock. OPS Against & PAs Against:

.403 Chapman 171

.556 Whitlock 227

.298 Matz 14

.465 Slaten 90 (IL)

.530 Guerrero 72 (IL)

.566 Bernardino (Demoted)

.622 Wink (IL)

.649 Burdi (DFA to STL)

.654 Weissert 209 - 2nd most PAs against as a RP.

.692 Hendriks (IL)

.694 Wilson 148- 5th most PAs against

If Slaten can come back and look good, I think he, Weissert, Wilson & Bernardino are a pretty solid "next 3," and maybe Matz can be one of the few deadline pitching additions to work out for us since Robles in 2021 and Nate in 2018.

We currently have Hicks and I Campbell on the 26, but we may see Bernardino back and Sandlin get a shot from the pen

I like seeing Anthony getting more lift at bats.

For those of you telling me don't fix it if its not broken....well I gotta news for you.

The entire organization will want Anthony to tweak his approach a bit.

It would be a waste of talent to have him hit 20 home runs (by the way he's nowhere close to that).

He's had a high GB rate since being drafted. Remember, he had a 316 SLG in Salem before being promoted to GRE in '23. He is also capable of hitting 500' moonshots.

I love 500' moonshots.

Have to remember he just turned 21.  It can take a few years for the home runs to start coming.

The first time Yaz hit 20 HR was his age 25 season.

And done it without facing the Red Sox strikeout-heavy lineup…

It's why they are only 16th in k/9. 😭

Baloney.  He's 21, played in 51 total MLB games, and has an OPS of .828.  Because of his .394 OBP, he leads off.  He's a competent outfielder in LF or RF.

Now is absolutely not the time to encourage Anthony to swing for the fences.

Competent? Some other teams still would have him as their CFer.

I pretty much expected this from you..."Baloney" you said.

Who said anything about doing it Today....I just wished you put me on ignore......

Are you that tone deaf that you think I'm the only one on this planet smart enough to say it? I heard it from countless former players in print and on the air.
