Yes. When you bunt, a lot can happen, both good and bad. Like I said, sometimes a bunt is a good move, but in general, I would rather see the batter swing away.

if you have a speedy guy on second you bunt towards third (or at least make a serious attempt to) and steal third at the same time. even the batter pulls back on the bunt, most likely the third baseman is moving in and i'd say you have a very good chance at pulling off the steal.

We actually have a sign for the fake bunt/steal third -- it works so good, sometimes there's nobody covering to take a throw (name of team withheld since we're still in the state playoffs).

that's what i'm saying -great play when it works. and since the ghost runner rule began, i've seen it many times, though mostly just in AA and AAA games.

If Brez did this,  some would be irate!

i would. the Yanks are now on the hook for $16M for the next two years....and he's not that good. .717 OPS this year and leads the majors in strike outs. LOL...the Yanks can have him.

Agreed.

2-5 in this tough stretch with 2 to go.  We're not getting blown out in these games but we're not scoring many runs especially in the early innings.

The difference in most was that the opponents hit more home runs. That's also how the Red Sox won their two games.

Few of us are unhappy that Boston's selfish $300-millionaire is gone, but his power has been missed in a  batting order still loaded with swing and miss, and where hit parades are a rarity.

We all expected this to happen, and since there are too many weak contact hitters to replace at once, the priority in this week's trades is pitching, pitching, pitching.

A cheap rental bat might help, but I agree: PITCHING!

As of now they need a starter, a reliever and that rental bat.  Let's go Brez.

If we get a really good SP'er (hopefully not a rental) I'd be fine with no RP'er.

We could move Fitts or use Sandoval in relief.

Sandoval has had the dreaded setback.

Wong and Devers each had a double last night, since we're having fun with sample sizes.

Schwarber is a regret for sure.

There are way too many holes on this team to be able to fix to make the FLOPS competitive this year. I don't want to see them trading away anyone significant in some futile attempt to make a deep Oct run which will never happen. It would be much better to just write off this year like they did the past 3-4 years and spend all that money they saved when they got rid of the malcontent Devers. Maybe then they can try to be competitive in 3-4 years.

he's not coming back this year. another idiotic rehab signing by the Sox. between him, Paxton, Hendricks, etal, they could have spent money on an actual healthy pitcher. this is just insanity. and they're getting exactly what they deserve.

another fun fact: Kurtz had more total bases last night than Wong has had all season.

Typical Red Sox move.

The majority of deadline deals happen on the actual day of the deadline, with the vast majority of all deals happening on the deadline and the days leading up.

whatever move the Sox do or do not make, I suspect we won’t see it until at least the middle of next week.

Buy, sell, regardless I’ll bet we don’t see it until at least Wednesday

That’s works out bad too, lots of people wanted DeGrome a few years back who has been nothing but a basket of injury.  Lots of people wanted Montgomery two years ago and he’s been hurt and pitching awful.  Lots of people (including me) wanted Burnes last year and that would be an absolute disaster right now.

your list would have included Giolito, but I see it does not because he’s pitching great this year.

someone once said, there’s almost no such thing as a bad one year deal.

Goo wasn’t hurt when we signed him, unlike the others listed by Duran, and he only listed a few
