Who would have ever thought there'd be conflicts in a front office filled with the one guy who always raised his hand back in college to pontificate in the last minutes of the last class of the day -- in each of two dozen universities?

And 27 cooks in the kitchen. Seriously, someone needs to turn a turbo fan on full blast before they light the next lukewarm stove season.

I wonder how that corporate audit from Sportsology Group is going?

Certainly, neglecting the rotation, especially after we knew Gio was toast, was the big blunder. (The Sale trade, to me, is only a blunder in hindsight, but let's not go there, again.)

From now on I'm not going to talk about the Sale trade as a blunder in itself, but only as part of a blundering general approach. That's my compromise.

Ha ha, well played.

Just imagine some lowly audit staff waiting outside Eddie Romero's office with a laptop ready to ask a few questions.

It didn’t save any money it cost more money, and it didn’t add any depth to the starting rotation. Those are facts. An F for the trade right now, but that could go up some down the road. Then again it may not.

It's easy find "what ifs" on FA signings, but we could have gotten Flaherty, instead of Gio and saved $10M over two years, which might have helped JH accept keeping Sale's contract. For $7M more, we could have had Sale & Flaherty over Gio.

For no extra money, we could have had Sale and Fedde over Gio.

Last anyone saw, they were taking the stairs up to the front office. But a Netflix security camera reveals the diameter of the The Blob then grew disposably, with clashing colors in the gelatinous masses.

It certainly lines up with a beggars can't be choosy philosophy.

Hey, if the Dodgers are handing out free gifts, I have no problem standing in line.

Of course, Breslow seems to ignore these free gifts when others hand them out. Maybe for good reason?

It's going to be Paxton for Paez.

That makes sense.

Soxprospects definitely likes him, but doesn’t hide that he is a wild card and a long way off…

His fastball is only 90 mph. Has not been able to build up any velo. The worry is that even with his good control, that he'll get hit around when he reaches AA/AAA.

I don’t get this obsession fans have with grading trades and declaring a winner for each trade, a subject that covers 90% of the comments on any MLBTR article about a trade.

But it’s especially confusing when they clearly know that it could change depending on the younger players/prospects…

They still project his ceiling as potential backend starter. I think he has a great shot at being the best MLB pitcher ever named Jedixson…

That is true. However one thing is pretty certain at this point-it's a big time failing grade for 2024.

What was your grade for Vazquez for Abreu/Valdez at the time? I recall that trade drawing more ire than praise. But how about now?

My recollection is that most of the fuss about trading Vazquez was the way he found about it. I don't think anyone was freaking because we lost Vazquez for the last couple of months.

As of now? Yeah, a small win for Bloom with Abreu.

The Nazis won D-Day with soldiers in machine gun pillboxes above the Normandy beaches -- for about an hour. But the Allies had potential...

Everything gets pretty much graded from draft picks to trades to FA signings. It’s just the nature of the beast. Grades can always go up, or down, and usually do with time.

I think the players had a harder time with it than the fans did.

Bogey, and Raffy were two players who didn’t like the trade.

This year Bloom has a couple small wins on trades that were panned previously. That grades change over time defeats the purpose of grading them, especially when it’s known that they will change…

So they declared Houston the winner of the trade?
