Agreed.

I think it was more than 50% on ownership starting in 2019, but it seems others thought Bloom was the major blame target.

It's always easier to blame the CBO since he's around fielding questions and ostensibly the guy making the moves. John Henry has been Guy Incognito since Februrary 2020. Easy to forget he exists sometimes.

And for letting fans of the Blue Jays, Cardinals, Dodgers and Mets take over Fenway Park.

This is the only antisocial media I frequent, so someone let me know if the Red Sox front office has celebrated selling blocks of tickets every weekend to fans who cheer for the other side... or if Henry and Werner are heroes with the Chamber of Commerce for boosting the tourism economy in the city.

It'll be worse at Fenway this year. Just don't tell ownership about "the wall" that the Clippers are trying to add to their new building.

Trying to point out a major factor in our lack of success was often viewed as apologies for the CBO. No doubt, Bloom made some major mistakes, and not just with over half of his largest FA signings, but also trades like the JBJ one and all the inaction and "near misses."

Bloom deserved to be fired, but that still does not mean he was the major issue for our lack of success.

It seems obvious, now, to most, but this is just more of the same, but on hyper drive.

Once we did not replace Kimbrell and Kelly, the ball was set in motion. Although the Sale, Bogey and nate extensions and re-signings masked much of the non spending, by keeping our team payroll budget pretty high, the 2020 season should have been a clear sign to all, the ownership financial commitment was no longer there.

The amount of new winter spending fell way short of salaries lost before 2020, and despite seeing the payroll rise in 2021 and again in 2022, it still did not come close to the 2019 budget that was already trimmed of 2 solid RP'er salaries.

Then, to see a $10M drop, last winter should have been the final eye-opener on where the fault should have been mostly placed. Again, I'm not making excuses for Bloom. He botched most of his largest signings, was paralyzed with inaction, at key moments, and made some bad trades, He did make several good low-level signings and additions, and seemed to do a very good job building the farm back up- both in quality and quantity, but ultimately, it was not enough. His choice to draft mostly HS picks delayed the impact from the farm. He won't get to see the results of that.

As an LAClips fan, I hate the concept: a special section where fans of opposing teams or wearing other team's gear are not allowed? So management is essentially encouraging boorish behavior among dead-beat fans. Why? To me, it's the worst part of going to games live.

My understanding is with one press of a button, they can seal off that area and pump it full of sleeping gas so as to quell said boorish behavior for up to 15 minutes per dosage…

Sports fans in general are an entitled, demanding, vindictive and borderline psychotic bunch, with severe mood swings, who will line the streets for a parade, but demand their pound of flesh as soon as things go wrong. Sox fans are no exception. The latest example is Philadelphia Eagles fans, who in a matter of weeks, have gone from " Fly, Birds Fly," to demanding the heads of coaches and players on a platter.

Yep, all true.

I wonder what Ryan Pressly thinks of the Hader signing ?

“Damnit!! I’m ONE YEAR away from free agency!!!”

Hader gets more money than the Sox are willing to spend on a starting pitcher this year and several years prior.

I sure hope fans stay away from Fenway in droves this year and send Mr Scrooge a serious message. I don't live in boston but I'm not renewing my MLB package or buying any Red Sox gear etc Edited by Randy Red Sox

With no differed money, this is the biggest RP contract in history.

It was reported bres-slow was shopping for starting pitching at wal-mart this weekend.

I think we sign Paxton and Duvall.

Posted
I’m not even sure we sign one of those guys right now.

To me, even just those two would be more evidence of a continuing sham.

I think the feel they need to go through the motions, and a couple one year deals fits into their scheme.

Unless you'd actually consider Urias...

I think I’d take Bauer over Urias…

Hasn't been a peep about any of the character issue guys yet in this most mysterious offseason.

Bailey says there is talent in the projected starting rotation that the Red Sox have now, and he’s excited about it, so I guess the Red Sox don’t need Monty, or anyone else.

Not surprising.

Hasn’t been any good chatter about the CF/1b coming of a 4.4 bWAR session with a 133 OPS+. Nor much about the 3b with 4 Gold Gloves coming of a 4.4 bWAR season. And no chatter at all about the most dominant LHRP in recent years who has lost some zip on his fastball, but let’s face it, he always had some zip to spare…

Right, but the guys you're mentioning are expensive ones.
