Nobody gets what they want from these Sox. I wanted Yamamoto or Gray or Montgomery, you wanted a trade, notin wants Chapman. We all get nothing.

At least JH isn’t playing any favorites.

I would love to talk to Miami about Cabrera!!!!!

He seems to be on the verge of a breakout season

This is getting out of hand. Now there are two of them!

And our numbers will grow with every free agent who signs elsewhere. Two today. But when Stroman signs, there will be four of us. 8 when Clevinger signs elsewhere.

By the time you find yourself willing to forgive Trevor Bauer or Julio Urias, the number of Cabreraphiles will have squared itself!! And there’s nothing you can do to stop us!!! (Is there a maniacal laugh emoji?)

Seems like Imanaga did not cost all that much.

It will be interesting to see how that coin toss works out.

$9.825M Posting Fee (could increase with options taken or escalators.

$53M guarantee for 4 years ($13.25M AAV)

5th year team option

$80M max/5 years ($14M/yr) with all escalators kicking in

Red Sox ownership not showing up to Winter Weekend after back-to-back last place seasons, the full throttle comments and the dud of an offseason they’ve had so far is such an awful, awful look. You can’t get upset when people ask if you still care when these are your actions.

From Carrabis who was hosting the Townhall last year.

Yup John Henry knows that he's gonna get BOOED off the stage after the GOOSE EGG they laid during winter free agency period. The current Red Sox ownership group is just full of misers and cowards!

Wow if those numbers are true that paints the Red Sox in an even WORSE light for missing out!

If the Sox were intent in competing, they would've signed more than Giolito. The filter of not competing is all we have. If they were competing, they'd use the remaining 40M+ under the CBT on the rotation and be competitive regardless of the Sale deal.

Agreed. John Henry's "full throttle" statement looks like an absolute JOKE right now. They have clearly mandated a "no-spend" zone above that 225m. In fact we might drop to 200m in salary for the start of the season at this rate.

Actually, how accurate is spotrac? It has the Red Sox at a hair under 170m in projected total payroll right now.

Did Shota Imanaga get advice about Boston from Masataka Yoshida?

He was projected as a 4/5 starter with a low 90's FB with "movement," but still...

We ain't pivoting to Monty or Snell.

Stroman is kinda like getting two Gio's.

It looks, to me, like Paxton for 1 and maybe a trade for a 5 year guy.

I'm not sure what he would tell him.

I hope the Red Sox are not going to ship out Yoshida just for salary reasons. Because we know they aren't going to replace with equivalent talent!

As it stands if the Red Sox salary dump Yoshida, that gets them to 150m payroll. But to what end? Do they just want to bottom out to a top 3 pick in MLB and spend as little as possible?

Even a top 3 MLB draft pick usually takes years to develop and is no sure bet.

Feels like they don't care if they get a little EGG on their face as long as they can turn a profit off the innocent fans who paid their hard earned money for a subpar, underfunded product!

what are the dates for the winter wonderland?

Next weekend. Curiously, there is no longer any mention of this once-gala on the front page on Red Sox.com. This was found under the link Red Sox Press Releases: "Jonathan Papelbon to host Winter Weekend welcome event"...

... did anyone in the front office hear what he actually said about the front office last summer? Fans can only hope he isn't muzzled (though we know NESN will never replay anything controversial he says)

At this point, it seems like it's 99% a bridge to '25 and pray the prospects turn out. How will they construct the rotation next year? Who knows!

Werner said it, not Henry. Werner wants to spend. Henry doesn't. Werner just doesn't have enough say.

Rumor is that another team offered Imanaga more money.

Still a lot of the top FA left to sign. Too bad many play positions we are not in high need of, and we have an owner stuck ti misermania mode.

Don't worry, this front office is so dizzy in a search for pitching, they vow to leave no turn go unstoned.

San Fran has offered tons of money the last two years, but keep coming up empty.

Yep. And yet, interestingly enough, they've spent more on free agents so far this offseason than the Red Sox have.

Apparently, other teams have plan Bs and Cs.

They've already pivoted away from Snell and Montgomery. There have been NO rumors about Stroman, Clevinger or Lorenzen. The only guys we've heard about is Soler and YRod. That still seems like a bridge year to me.
