Was you around Portland at the time Mookie got moved to the OF?

no, but i follow every single minor league game. EVERY. from the DSL, to the FLC, to Lowell when Lowell existed, to the GCL, to Greenville, to Salem, to Portland and Pawtucket.

When an organization moves a player, they do it when they're in the high minors. There is just as much evidence that they were moving him then to get him reps so he'd be ready in the outfield when promoted.

I also have seen almost every single Portland Sea Dogs game when they come to connecticut, which today is the Hartford Yard goats, but back then it was the New Britain Rock Cats. At the time my fiance was in grad school at WCSU the year Mookie was in Portland. And I lived 4 minutes away from the stadium for 4 years. I watched A LOT of minor league games.

The fact that mookie played some outfield in the minors is not making the point you think it is. He was moved the year he was promoted, he was the top prospect in all of baseball. Baseball America literally had an entire page and thing called the "Mookie Meter". he was literally one of the most hyped prospects ever that year. Everyone knew he was smashing his way up to the majors. WHen the Sox knew he was going to force his way up in 2014 they moved him to the outfield BECAUSE of Dustin Pedroia.

You're talking about less than 40 games. THen they immediatley moved him back to his natural position when Pedroia went down. Because he was still a second baseman first then.

No I'm done, It's just a litttle flabergasted that someone can invent such an insane narrative in their head to make a point.

I'm done.

You were done before, and went into hibernation, which is where you did your best work.

I was at the ballpark in Portland when Mookie was first moved to the OF, and that was the story going around the BP at that time. Call me a liar all you want. Either way it’s not life, and death like you are making out to be, which happens so often on here.

Hugh, With all respect, who the hell are you to be giving out sarcastic awards and insulting other posters ?

I'm sorry, I'm sorry, you're right. It's not my decision to make. What I meant to say was I nominated him.

Red Sox ownership not showing up to Winter Weekend after back-to-back last place seasons, the full throttle comments and the dud of an offseason they’ve had so far is such an awful, awful look. You can’t get upset when people ask if you still care when these are your actions.

From Carrabis who was hosting the Townhall last year.

The front office literally openly said they were moving him to the outfield because of Dustin Pedroia. It's not a secret, everyone knows this.

Read my quoted tag line. I'm keeping that even though it's going to make me look bad. I take pride in learning when I'm wrong, I will wear it as a badge of honor because I like Authenticy darnit. I wish other people could do the same around here. It's not a sign of weakness to admit you're wrong, the world won't stop turning, I promise. Its ok....its ok to admit that you know Mookie Betts was actually moved to the outfield because he was blocked by Dustin Pedroia. Life will continue onwards, I promise.

The both of you need to let it go.

You're wrong. Hugh is coming off unhinged.

Someone is always coming off unhinged, or making mountains out of molehills. I was told the other day after Sale got traded that I couldn’t say I think Sale stays healthy this coming year, and has a good season, because I didn’t say that when Sale was in Boston, and called him Frail Sale, which many others did too on here, and other venues.

What you say doesn’t change the word that was going around Portland at the time, and since you wasn’t there you don’t know if I’m a liar, or not, which I would have no reason to do so.

Who is everyone? the fans in the stands? the organization said they were moving him because he was blocked by Dustin PEdroia. You can literally look that up. You can't look up what you're saying. Conveniently.

Fans in the stands? It was first mentioned by the Sea Dogs manager on his weekly interview on the local radio sports talk show the Big Jab, and yes it was talked about at the Ballpark by the fans.

You definitely won’t get any nominations for comeback. Hibernation was your best move.🤮

Who would know better: the hot dog vendor in Portland or John Farrell? Hard to say!

This is what Carrabis deserves for believing Henry wasn't wrong for looking at his watch last year...

It's tough, maybe the gym bros can be the tie-breaker.

So the hotdog vendor must have told the Sea Dogs manager.

They’ve really been pushing the advertising up here for the big shindig with promos many times daily.

This poster holds Nick Pivetta and Luis Urias (and others) in higher regard than many on this forum do.:D

So, Pivetta, Urias and LLovera?

BTW, I'm a NP supporter. I had hopes for Urias, but his poor D and questionable O, I like what we got for him.

No red for number 7?

No red for number 7?

That has already been answered many times over. The Red Sox already have a 3B that they paid $300M plus for. For good, or worse.

Nobody gets what they want from these Sox. I wanted Yamamoto or Gray or Montgomery, you wanted a trade, notin wants Chapman. We all get nothing.

I still think the Sox will make a couple of noteworthy moves before the Winter Weekend.

There's no Town Hall this year. That's not a good sign.

The offseason has become an excruciatingly long, boring, frustrating, losing game.

The Sox executive hitters have struck out 15 times already. But they still have a few innings left to pull it out.

Fenway has a very restless atmosphere.

The idea is growing on me, as more and more targets drop off the list, and word that teams are asking about Yoshida.

I could see:

3B:

150 Chapman

12 Devers

1B:

90 Casas

73 Devers

DH

67 Casas (+5 days of full rest)

60 Devers (+5 days of full rest)

5 Chapman (+7 days of full rest)

30 Refsnyder v LHPs

Maybe sign Duvall (RF or LF) or even Soler (LF)?

Nobody had Gio top 10, even.

Criswell? LOL

O'Neill, Campbell and Fitts were not even thought about.

That's not to say these deals can't or won't work out, but yes, nobody is getting close to what we wanted.

Definitely restless. I think that is why they are going to have to do something significant. Let's see what happens with Snell.

Sidenote on Grissom, reported by MLBTR:

Rogers reports that the Braves approached the [White] Sox and dangled infielder Vaughn Grissom, among others[for Cease,]but were rebuffed. Grissom instead went to the Red Sox in the Chris Sale trade.
