Outscored 25 to 8 in a key series. Or is that outpitched by a team with an actual rotation ?

Both.

Paxton didn’t have it Friday. It happens.

But continuous bullpen games take its toll. You are by definition taking lesser pitchers or guys who can’t go more than an inning or 2 and hoping each and every one of them has it. Once in a rotation is tough enough. Twice is a recipe for less than stellar results. Back to back bullpen games is just plain stupid.

And let’s face it, the Jays have been underperforming all year. Bad week for the Sox yo have them seemingly get back to the team they can be.

Why is Story being held back at Worcester for the next series? Any info available ? I know one thing, he isn't there to get to be a better player in AAA. If he just needs reps , get them vs the Royals.

Story was 2-3 with another homer today. Sale 4.1 innings, no runs, 7 k's. Bloom stashing them in AAA. Smart move Chaim. YOU SUCK!

I described how they battled just to get to the playoff game.

Even that game was a microcosm of the season. Sox led early. Yanks a seemingly insurmountable 5-2 lead with 2 innings left. Sox battle back, getting 2 runs off of Goose Gossage in the 8th. Piniella makes a stop on Remy base hit in the 9th that Lou never saw until it bounced into his glove (it’s an easy triple if that doesn’t happen) and the Yanks hold on.

It took 26 years to get revenge for that game.

Papalbon refreshing as part of the Sox post game desk. Did you ever think anybody.....even me.....Mr Caustic would say something like that?

If they are smart they will move Paps into the game booth and get Wake out of there.

Subsequently read Cora's comments that Story is still in ST mode and team won't insist he returns until Trevor says he is ready. He knows how his body is reacting to playing. Basically Story is another prima donna who has been close to worthless for 2 years since signing .

Much agreed. Pap was honest and forthright. Wake's favorite comment , "Yeah, he does" adds a lot to the commentary

Won't do it I would bet. It would mess with OB's play by play schtick too much. For OB, every good to great play by an opponent in the field should be stated as "Hitter was robbed".

I was never of a mind that a hitter could be robbed of anything but a Home Run. If its not over the fence its simply a good play by a fielder.....NOT ROBBERY!

Totally agree. I want a guy who will tell the truth and criticize them if they play bad or stupid. Harry Caray was great at that.

Now cannot even afford a split with the Royals. Need to take at least 3 of 4 from them.

Hopefully the Royals have reverted to form. Second straight loss today after a 7 game win streak. Unfortunately, the Sox hitters have gone silent again, which could mean anything the next year 4 days.

Fortunately for me, I’ll miss watching the series. KC is one of the blackout teams for me plus I’ve got 72 holes at Geneva National to play while that series is happening.

You should listen to the radio guys (mostly Castiglione and Flemming, but also McDonough when he’s been there. Merloni as well.).

They have not held a lot back this year in the way of criticism.

I think plays in the field can be robbery, but they have to be truly outstanding plays. Certainly nothing like what OB says are thefts.

I nominate for Negative Post of the Day. :)

But seriously, this is a huge point. The Jays starters really pitched well in this series. The Jays really invested in their rotation. Pretty big contracts for Berrios, Gausman and Bassitt. Just the kind that Bloom has been avoiding like the plague.

I like Lou Merloni. He would be good in the booth. We have been spoiled by having Rem Dawg and Eck.

Sales not bring stashed. Today was his second outing and he’s thrown a total of 6 1/3 innings with Worcester. He’s not the type to milk it; his next start will be with Boston, and at most he’ll make 1 more with Worcester. I’m thinking he’ll start a Friday or Saturday against the Tigers.

You know this team is bad when the Jay's come into this series and get swept without the Jay's best player and without their closer.

The team is staying true to their pattern this year. Go on a winning streak followed by a losing streak. Will most likely finish the year a tad over 500 with missing the playoffs.

I don't understand why they didn't unload at the trade deadline. Did they seriously think the team as it was, was good enough to make the playoffs? They could of gotten more prospects. After all this is the plan right!?

you nailed it Bellhorn. you get what you pay for and today it was embarrassing to be a Red Sox fan

Oh no say it ain’t so to be embarrassing to be a Red Sox fan.

REM Dawg, and Donny O have been the best in recent years, but I started out with Curt Gowdy, and then Ned Martin, and Ken Coleman. Those were professional. OB, and the Yuckers are not.

If anyone should be embarrassed it's Henry and Bloom. They must already be looking forward to the next meet-and-greet with the fans.

The thing is I don’t think they are. If things don’t turn out any better than they are now I’ll be surprised if they even show up.

Yes, them all sucking has nothing to do with the losing.

Can we stop coddling the players for not doing what many little leaguers know what to do?

That being said, it should piss fans off that so little was done at the deadline. It's one thing to put the long term future of the team as the number one priority, but we could have gotten someone like Flaherty without giving up any very promising prospects.

I'm a big fan of planning for long term success, but for 4 years (deadline 2019 to deadline 2023) the best prospect we parted with was Aldo Ramirez (for Schwarber.) That pretty much tells it all. Forget the lies Sox brass tells us, this was always a 5 year plan (or more.)

Two more years. We will have to put up with this kind of team through 2024. After that if Henry can’t give the fans a competitive team he needs to sell the franchise. Right now we are the worst team in the division. Even the Yankees will probably finish ahead of us.

Just hold your nose for two more years.
