Turner jumps at a first pitch well above the zone to end the 8th. Winnable game slip sliding away

Very winnable but coming up short.

Crawford pitches a 6 1/3rd 1 hit shutout to keep the game close. Bello lost it by the end of 1. The hitters had bad timing and little luck aiming the ball through 8

So was Derek Jeter. What’s your point?

He just trolling as he is wont to do when the Sox are trailing. If the Sox are winning, he's nowhere to be found.

To be fair, Jeter was a terrible shortstop, but my recollection is that while he had no range, if he got to the ball, he made the play. Kike has no range and is not making plays on the balls he gets to.

Excellent game, well worth watching despite 3 errors (but no unearned runs) and horrible start by Bello. If he starts again, especially instead of Crawford, the Sox brain trust are disinterested in winning games. I can see Bello starting again at some point, but right now think he can long relieve or something to establish a performance baseline better than the one we saw today.

Too many sub-.200 hitters.

A game or two ago I think I said the team average in that game was around .200. The Sox won.

Nice, Refsnyder turns 3-0 into another K

Yoshida not of much use either

Meh. Pitches 4 and 5 were 98 mph and in the strike zone. Pitch 6 was also 97 mph and just up, so an entirely forgivable swing. Agree completely on Yoshida.

Taking 3 of 4 from any team is a good thing, and let's not pretend that this was a pitching matchup that favored the Red Sox. The rain allowed them to come back and make it close once it forced Ohtani from the game; I don't think the Sox were going to do much with him had he been able to remain on the mound.

Again, it is just one game.

Very few decisions should ever be made over one game.

batting averages are anemic, hanging with these guys is brutal, if they can't be helped then replace, upcoming players can't be any worse, doesn't look like there is any help for

some players, you can't depend on the same players to bail you out

they couldn't hit him with an ironing board

People should also remember Bello had no spring training, he literally only pitched 2 innings.

He probably should have pitched at least 2 more games in the minors.

How quickly we forget Whitlock came back struggling and turned it around in one start. Bello might need 1-2 more to be up to speed.
