So, if the Sox added 3 superstars they’d still

Suck?

What if they added Bogaerts, and Betts? Would they still suck?

I would offer that the Sox with Bogey and Betts, not Bacall, would be significantly better. BUT, the deal that Bogaerts got from Padres does not make good sense. Counting on Story to be the guy at SS was a cheaper way to plug the hole when signed in 2022, but Trevor fooled them with the old rag arm joke. In December, when Story's elbow issue came up i would have signed one of the remaining FA true SS's to a a market deal and counted on Story's return to solidify 2nd base. Betts deal from LAD could be justified based on age, and possibly giving him a 5 year opt out.

Reading comprehension? Who said anything about sucking. Both teams are bad; just pointing out the superstar numbers.

Btw, could Henley be considered a superstar based on his save numbers? These are questions that need to be answered.

Hey guys, that was actually a win, pretty sloppy on the Angels side, but our pitching held a Red Sox equivalent team in check and beat them.

Don Henley? He did save Walton Pond, right?

Sox win! Rays Lose! Yanks lose!

Jacko says we are going to have an epically bad season.

The Yanks are 2 up on us. That must make them pretty bad, too.

How can you say that about the World Series favorites and their line-up of superhero sluggers, featuring #5 batter Willie Calhoun and #6 the mortal Franchy Cordero -- back-to-back career Wins BELOW Replacement players!

The biggest difference so far is that Boston has more mediocre redbeards.

When I saw the Yankees had a player named Willie Calhoun I thought he might be a prospect I hadn't heard of. Then I looked up his B-R page and couldn't quite believe what I was seeing...

You’re funny.

I guess I hit your funny bone.

If the season ended, today, the Yanks would be needing tie-breakers to make the WC.

Sure, so far you guys look better, and I would not bet the Sox end up better than the Yanks, this year, but it's not the slam dunk you think it is, so laugh away.

This is a great example of when poster, including myself, bitch about how s***** our 25th and 26th guys are, or our 39th and 40th and who should be DFA'd, and I say, "Look at what questionables other teams have."

It seems to fall on deaf ears.

Just imagine if Franchy was still on our 26, or Colten Brewer (TBR), Yusei Kikuchi (at big money w TOR) or any of about 4 guys from the O's 13 man staff.

At the end of the day that stuff is all minutiae, fun to jabber about, but the only thing that really matters is the W-L records.

On Saturday, Refsnyder will be hitting third. You will not win too many games with that lineup.

?? Because of his great success in that spot? Or is it just a way to better distribute the six or so sub-.150 hitters in the lineup?

Sox yesterday had a weak hitting lineup with Houck starting (lasting 4 innings), but won 5-3 thanks to 3 errors and 4 unearned runs given up by the Angels, who looked like the Sox did in Tampa.

But the crowd at the Fens was 36,680. Seems like a lot of paying customers didn't get the word these Sox are not worth rooting for. Maybe it was the temp, a toasty 58 degrees.

One could argue Cora's line-up construction has maximized our run-scoring to near miraculous proportions...

We are 4th in runs scored in MLB and 26th in BA at .230, 21st in wRC+ at 95 and 16th in OPS at .724

I would love to call you a cockeyed optimist, but then I looked at the Rays schedule to date. In their first 9 games opposing teams scored 18 runs, and in the next 4 game vs. the Sox our guys scored 18 runs. Without Duvall.

That sounds like a wee bit of luck involved, like last night's game where we were out-hit 11-5 but the Halos made 3 big errors.

Nah, they go to the games because of the reasonably priced beer and hotdogs.

For the life of me I don’t understand why they just won’t play all the .400 guys.
