That sounds like a wee bit of luck involved, like last night's game where we were out-hit 11-5 but the Halos made 3 big errors.

Our BAbip is bad, so it seems we've had bad luck with lucky good results.

If Jad has posted today's game thread (55 min away) , this post would be more relevant. Angels have called up and will be starting their top pick , Zach Neto , from the 2022 draft ( #13 overall) to play SS full time, sending longtime vet David Fletcher to their Salt Lake AAA Bees. Neto has played a little over 40 games for the Rocket City Trash Pandas in AA.

Neto's promotion settles the question once and for all as to how long you should expect a draftee to linger in the minors before ascending to a key starting position. Out of consideration for Zach's youth, he will bat 8th vs our own Nick Pivetta who will school him but good.

I looked him--Zach Neto--up and think the Angels are gambling on him. He has not played much competitive ball. He was undrafted out of HS so went to Campbell College where he played two years/seasons plus some amateur/professional summer ball.

So the question is whether he can hit MLB pitching.

And right now I'm not sure the Sox have MLB pitching with our 5.24 ERA (ranked 26th)--and that leaves out all those unearned runs plus the ones scored when the defensive play was so bad, the ball didn't even touch the glove (Devers) and was counted as a hit.

He's also 22.

Mayer is 20.
