Where did you get “aberration” from. I was just responding to you saying maybe luck was involved.

If you look at the velo in 2018. He was throwing harder than he had previously.

Jeez I hope Turner is OK.

Looked like it hit him pretty high up on the face. Concussion? Orbital bone?

MLBTR...

The Sox provided reporters an update on Turner, with Abraham among those to relay it (Twitter links). Turner is receiving treatment for soft tissue injuries and is being monitored for a concussion. The club also says he is stable, alert and in good spirits given the circumstances. More updates will follow after further testing.

I realize all of the Chris Sale frustration here so I'll just say that I'm likely the only one here who wanted him resigned. My feelings about that have not changed. Hopefully he stays healthy. He is one of the reasons that I will actually watch this team.

I wanted him re-signed and was happy we did it.

I thought the contract amount reflected the idea that he might miss a year. $145M/4 would be worth it, if he was Chris Freakin' Sale in all 4 of them.

$145M/5 seemed about right.

I've not given up on him, but I'm not counting on much, either.

I think Sale is one of the keys to the success or failure of this team ; along with Devers, Jansen and the youngsters Casas and Bello.

Agreed. We'd need way too many unexpected over-achievements to occur, if Sale gives us next to nothing.

His salary is about 13% of the player budget, so it does hurt, if he keeps giving us nothing.

The report is that Turner is home from the hospital with no fractures, but 16 stitches, and lots of swelling. That’s good news for something that looked real bad when it happened.

He should be in there tomorrow. Better not baby him!

Wow! Making a joke about this? Still can’t let the Sale thing go, which was only an opinion, which you and others didn’t like. I can live with that, because like I said it’s only an opinion.

Wow, seems like you have a problem with my opinion. I go to lots of bowling alleys, bingo halls, miniature golf courses, reiki healers, playgrounds, arcades, anarcho syndicalistic communes, mongolian buffets, puppy mills, boiled peanut vendors, grocery stores and nature preserves and people there all agree that Justin Turner must not be babied! He’s had enough time off!!! Sox have paid him 22M and have nothing to show for it! May as well ride him hard and put him away wet!!!!!!!!!!

scares the hell out of me, I never forgot Tony C and I went ballistic when Clemens deliberately threw at Piazza's head, a real low life move

And to think you thought giving Sale a few xtra days off would make him less brittle. The one thing I noticed, and liked right off when I joined this forum was how all opinions were welcomed. Seems like the Sale opinion has struck lots of nerves.

You left out sports talk radio, and SoxTalk, so sounds like an incomplete list.

I bet those peanut vendors are only boiled in open-air outdoor stadiums. There's no place like dome...

So… no AA meetings or flea markets?

I don’t listen to the radio. Sorry.

I didn’t say a few extra days off would make him less brittle. That never happened.

I was in the stands in 75 when Dick Pole got drilled by that Tony Muser liner, and I can still hear the thud when the ball struck.

On the catwalk. Yes, on the catwalk. I boil all my peanuts on the catwalk.

That’s a ground rule double.

That was my point. This guy fractured a rib throwing before the season, and fell off a bike. He’s just become injury prone, and I don’t think a day, a week, or a month is going to make him any less so.

The flea market on US1 was pro-babying Turner. I tried an AA meeting, but was already drunk from putting my dog down and all the attendees were nodding off. :(

Who said a week off would make him less injury prone? Nobody. Holding him back won’t change it.

And that’s why I would have had him pitching in the first game to see where he was at. Just an opinion though. Didn’t Cora baby the pitchers in ST of 2019? How did that work out? I get your point on Sale, but I just would go another way.

The problem is, you need to get out more.

He did throw that broken bat at him.

The funny thing was, reading his lips, he said to the ump, "I thought it was the ball!"

(Like if the ball had come to him, he'd have throw that ball at Piazza as he ran to 1B. Maybe he thought they were playing kickball.)
