Most people see him as the last guy on the 40 man roster, so you're not alone on that.

I think we all need to remember to ignore ST stats though.

No way! Red Sox are the only unbeaten MLB team in the world!

They are just getting pitchers to throw and work on their pitches. The games don't count. It doesn't matter.

I wasn't making my point based on the game mattering- just that it seemed strange that early in ST'ing you give a RP'er 2 IP. I'm not sure what his pitch count was, but it seemed weird, to me.

I think we've all anticipated that he'd be the next guy DFA'd, but that hasn't been the case. We've seen Seabold, German, Barnes and others DFA'd before him.

Ort has been at #1 or #2 on just about everyone's next DFA gut for the last 4-5 DFAs.

The only thing I care about at this point is if the regulars, and especially the starting pitchers get through ST without an injury.

I would be happy with at least 5 of the 7 making it to the season healthy.

That's more reasonable, if not realistic. Guys across the leagues are already dropping like flies in the '22 Boston outfield.

And the WBC hasn't even begun.

There's lots of games to play and the starters aren't ramped up yet. I don't see the issue.

No point is too small to contest!

If 4 of out top 6 SP'er get 24+ GS'd, we might be in business. Otherwise, we'll need Houck, Mata, Walter, Crawford, Wink and or Murphy to step it up.

24? Way to shoot for the stars there.

@ChrisCotillo

The Jorge Alfaro opt-out mystery has been solved.

Per source, Alfaro has an upward mobility clause on 3/25. If a team wants to add him to its MLB roster, Red Sox must either let him go or add him themselves.

With his k rate, I think he's just in camp in case someone gets injured. He's not even catching. Most likely just another guy we all forget at some point.

@PeteAbe

Rocky outing for Tanner Houck, who has walked 4 of the 8 batters he has faced, including three of the last four.

1.2 INN, 4BB, 2K, 0ER so far (bases loaded with Feltman coming in to close out the inning)

As shaky as he looked, I think all of our expected 26 man roster pitchers have yet to let up an ER, this spring, except Ort.

Bleier?

How many times have you seen a single player get a SB, a CS and a picked off in one game?

The "winner" is Jarren Duran.

Spring training stats have proven meaningless over time, but the hitting in encouraging nonetheless.

Agreed, but it just feels better seeing good starts vs bad starts.

He is not a good baserunner.

I don’t believe he’s a good baseball player.

I want to believe, but remain skeptical. I can confidently say that he's fast, but doesn't have base stealing instincts. The larger bases aren't going to really help him IMO.

Fast seems to be his only good trait, but won’t do him much good if he doesn’t know how to use it.
