No, they're different, because they're confirming that they're still all in.

We've got the youth movement coming, but it's great to have a star to build around.

I hope your right but you missed my point the signing didn’t change the personnel on the team, we’re the same team as yesterday

The same for 2023, yes, but this is huge.

No opt outs.

No no-trade clause.

The monkey is off our backs. Big sigh of relief, and not just for fans.

We still have about $17M under the tax line, so maybe the 2023 roster is not quite set.

I still think w etrade for Rojas or Mateo and shouldn't have to much up for either.

I'd like to see us have a better defensive RF'er, but I'm okay with L- Dugo and R- Ref.

I think Yoshida & Turner can make up for the loss of offense from Bogey & JD, and in terms of RBI production, maybe a lot more.

The pen is better.

The rotation is the big question.

He didn’t get a no trade clause? What a mistake

He’ll have a no trade after his 10th full year with the Red Sox anyways.

Now….don’t wait 6 years to work on Bello and Casas. They can wait a year, but start licking guys up early

Next offseason, the extensions need to be fast and furious.

Extending them, now, starting in 2023, would allow the tax hit to be lower going forward, while still keeping us under the tax line for 2023.

Bloom has more work to do, but this is a good start.

Pleased.

At least this shows that they want to build something around somebody.

Said that, next season still looks awful moving forward. Maybe the plan will start until 2024/25?

A mistake for whom? Devers? I think he’ll be okay and I doubt he’s traded anytime soon anyway.

hopefully next an extension to Bobby Dalbec is coming

No, they should have locked him up, when his stock was high.

So, we lock up Casas at 8M x 10 and Bello at $9M x 10, and we squeak under the tax line in 2023, and even the Bloom bashers would have to say something good about him for 3 minutes.

I'm waiting for someone to say we signed him, so we could trade him.

A $31mill AAV is a partial no trade clause as well…

Why would you give any player a no trade clause if he didn’t want one?

Posted
He will be just 31 years old when year 6 begins, making the majority of this 11 year deal within prime.

That's what makes extending Devers a better idea than 11 years for Bogey, or maybe even 6-7 years for Bogey.

I was ambivalent about Bogaerts. The 11 years I don't really care - again, it's spreading money to make the luxury tax numbers more favorable. But with Bogaerts it is unlikely that he'll recover all that value.

Why? Bobby has taken a steps backwards the last two years. He's a 0.232 hitter with OBP of 0.298. That's terrible. Unless he can become more patient and can hit the curve, it's not happening.

Way too much money and way too many years for a 0.283 hitter with an OBP of 0.342.

Terrible signing.

Way too little money and way to few years for a 26 year old with a .512 SLG.

Sure, why not leave out the SLG?

I thought your sarcasm was worse than SC30's.

If you don't like this news, you might have to get checked out for an Eeyore Complex...

The thing is, for that money we could have gotten 101 Dalbecs. But we don’t need that since we’re no longer think of the owner as Cruella de Ville.

(This was my best impression of 5Gold. How’d I do?)

This signing is going to ruin the long narrative of so many posters.

It may take days for them to regroup and find some fresh pathways.
