Exactly, damnit!! What’s the holdup here?!?

A lot of starting pitchers are already off the board. Waiting for the right deal might be a great strategy this offseason. Or it might really suck.

A lot of teams haven’t made any moves as well.

There are about 30 SP left.

1. I’m surprised the Sox haven’t signed Ryan Yarbrough.

2. Rodon, Syndergaard, and Kluber might be the most intriguing ones left…

Rodon is the prize and the only one who will make a significant difference. An ace on top of the rotation is a logical place to start a legitimate rebuild.

The other pitchers are past their primes, but would all fit in with a bad team's rotation of #4 and 5 starters. Although the more you collect, the better the odds of catching one lightning bug in a bottle.

And we know we're not going anywhere near Rodon. He'll likely be in pinstripes.

I’m going to counter that’s and predict the North Carolina native and former member of the Wolfpack chooses Baltimore…

Nothing. But Bloom might be gone.

They can miss the playoffs and have him keep his job. It just depends on if he's meeting JH's standards. We don't know if he's just following the script right now.

I don’t think JH standards are a losing, last place in the Div team, and a drop in attendance, so that script has to change.

I've said all along, the best way to get a quality SP'er, this winter is via trade.

I'm not sure we will part with the prospects needed to get one, and I doubt we do, but we still have $40M, so maybe we get a high priced SP'er or take on some salary with a lower priced SP'er, like A Garcia with a MIS SP'er. We do need a RF'er who bats RH'd and has some upside on offense and power. (.766 since 2017, averaging 24 HRs per 162)

The only FA solution, yes.

Even if he's 100% following the script, he'll be the scapegoat just as Ben was.

What drop? 10th in attendance in 2022. 9th in attendance in 2018. What good does winning do?

Worst attendance since JH took over in a non Covid year. I didn’t say what place in attendance they finished, but it was a drop, and a drop is $$$.

Attendance is down across baseball. Is that Bloom's fault too? Sox are in the same relative spot they have been forever in terms of attendance.

Do you think Red Sox attendance dropping last year was, because the Red Sox were so much fun to watch. What’s not to like when you could see Franchy Strangeglove try to play 1B, or Duran, Duran The Butterfly Man try to play CF, or Arroyo try to play RF. Not even mentioning they were a losing team to boot, so I would say Bloom had his hands all over the drop in attendance.

Why were they still a top 10 MLB team in attendance? Why was their overall ranking similar to 2018 when the team was amazing? Does winning matter or no? Why is attendance down across MLB?

That surely was part of it, but winning does not always translate to better attendance.

How much of the drop was due to the league wide drop reasons?

Hard to know.

All I said was the Red Sox had the lowest attendance in 2022 since Henry took over, and that’s a loss of money to Henry, and I think last year’s performance on the field had something to do with that. That’s it.

And I think it also had to do with the drop in attendance across MLB.

Just wait until this season. The economy is a big question mark so those tickets will be more of a premium item that will be easier to pass on buying. If the Sox continue to be an also-ran, they aren't going to bring in more fans. There isn't going to be more "buzz" around this team considering the entire front office just got pies thrown at them on the last day of the winter meetings. Even if the Sox play wall in April, will the fans come rushing back?

The Sox FO is probably more concerned about NESN viewership.

Agree with this, and it will be interesting to see how ticket sales are before the season starts.

It’s getting harder for me to listen to OB, and his cast of merry men.

Baltimore's going to outbid the Yankees for him? :D

Are the Yankees really in?

If deGrom can wind up in Texas instead of with the Mets, are things really going as expected?

More grasping at straws. Texas showed they've decided to spend big last offseason.

The only unexpected thing about the Mets is that they're spending even more than expected.

The scariest thing about our rotation/depth list as it stands?

We have one pitcher - one - who pitched as many as 80 major league innings last year.

They are well rested. :o
