1. Longer than Bogey

2. Less money and years than Bogey.

3. We gain a pick by losing Bogey and lose one for signing Swanson. Not as bad as it looks.

But we lose a higher pick than what we get back. Also, why do we think Swanson will last? With his weak arm, we’d be just as well off moving Story back to SS. I think Swanson is fine there for a few years. I don’t hate it

I'm looking at some metrics, other than UZR/150 that show Swanson is better than Bogey. I admit, I'm going totally by taking all the metrics, together and I feel it shows Swanson is clearly better than Bogey on D, despite the weaker arm. If I'm wrong, then it's Andrus, because I doubt Correa is even on the table. (He would be on my table.)

He's more than a year younger, so that's another reason. If Bogey signs for 8 years and Swanson 6, and both move off SS at lets say age 33, Bogey plays SS 2 or 3 of 8 years and Swanson plays SS 3 or 4 years out of 6. That's a major percentage differential.

Estevez is off the board and on to Anaheim. 2 years $13.5 million

I’m a little disappointed there. Fulmer, Rogers, Jansen remain top relief arms left. Hopefully the Sox get one..

Oh yes! Just like we did! Why who doesn't remember where they were when the Bloom/Henry "RESET!" was posted! I mean you ask why people follow sports? There's your answer! What a great day in sports history.

Grimly amusing, I must admit.

I'd settle for an Eovaldi or Kluber signing at this point.

I imagine both are on the radar.

But - settle for them as opposed to who?

The only SPs off the board so far are Verlander, deGrom, Tyler Anderson and Kyle Gibson…

Apparently Turner got a higher offer from Padres but decided to sign with the Phillies instead. So expect them to make a run at Bogey

They tried once already. But they wanted X to change positions (the Padres currently have 5 MLB shortstops already on the roster) and Bogie balked…

Who does he think he is, ARod?

No, wait...

That’s probably why the Padres talked to Turner.

Trea has already moved off shortstop to play 2b and CF. Bogaerts is reluctant.

The Padres will eventually trade for Cleveland’s Ames Rosario, whose has also willingly gone to the outfield, and make him their new 2b or CF or 1b or whatever…

That's also probably why Turner chose the Phillies. He just wants to play SS.

Further clarification:

San Diego Union Tribune Kevin Acee on the Padres SS interest:

"A team source said Monday evening that the Padres are no longer in the market for a shortstop and were always only really in the market for Turner"

Heaney apparently has 3 year offers on the table and wants a 4th year. Bloom, please no...

How involved are the Sox? A lot of teams have been connected to Heaney for some reason…

Heaney has been drawing widespread interest in free agency with as many as ten teams showing interest, including the incumbent Dodgers (via Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic), aforementioned Blue Jays, as well as the Mets, Red Sox and others.

For some reason, the Sox just keep coming up in the Heaney news items. Jays have already made a formal offer.

@JeffPassan

Star Japanese outfielder Masataka Yoshida has officially been posted, sources tell ESPN. He'll have 30 days to sign a deal with an MLB team. There is significant interest in the 29-year-old, who this year hit .335/.447/.551 with 80 walks and 41 strikeouts for the Orix Buffaloes.
