ERod blows. His time is up. He had ample time to show you something and he has been lit up. An ERA over 5.

maybe the 3.03 ERA in his 6 previous starts will allow him a longer look, but our rotation is in shambles.

There is no sugar coating it.

I don’t get it either. Our starters have had ample time to show they can turn it around and be consistent and they have been terrible. Pivetta, Richards, and Rodriguez. They stink! No good consistently. I have to include pivetta becasue his last 3 starts have been awful!

Pivetta can pitch and Hell Richards can get a few outs in the pen .Things are not that terrible except trust in Erod and Richards is gonzo .Time to shuffle the deck not throw it in the garbage

Maybe they move him to 1B or trade Duran or Verdugo for Berrios.

I think Duran is your 4th OFer/pinch runner down the stretch. Doubt he gets traded. Would love to see another move here.

What if Devers moved to first ? Not permanently just for the remainder of the year ? What if Kris Bryant takes 3b ? Maybe this is the plan all along ? Maybe Trade Duran now to Miami like the rumors a few days ago for Pitching ? Extend Bryant sign Kyle ?

Based on what I'm reading, I think Jose Berrios ends up with the Padres or the Blue Jays. I don't believe the Red Sox's package will be good enough.

Accordingly, the Red Sox need to pivot to acquiring a relief pitcher and hope that Houck and Whitlock together can perform as a dominant starter in the postseason.

Postseason rotation:

1. Sale

2. Eovaldi

3. Houck followed by Whitlock

4. E-Rod

In this scenario, Whitlock can't be used as a regular bullpen arm. Instead, he will be scheduled to pitch whenever Houck pitches, and will not be used until then. Kimbrel would be an ideal candidate to replace Whitlock's role in the pen.

I'm assuming Schwarber will be the Red Sox's starting 1b, but it'll be interesting to see if the Red Sox have plans to trade for a starting 1b on Friday with the intention of starting Schwarber in LF against RHP.

If the Red Sox don't trade for a 1b on Friday, then it will be clear that Schwarber is that guy.

I don't get this. He's a .230 lifetime hitter. Don't the RS have that position well covered?

He does have a career 828 OPS which is not too shaby. But he just went on a home run tear so 8 can't see him continuing that for the remainder of the season

Schwaber is a power hitting left handed bat and an outfielder who could play some first. He fills a need for the left handed bat and at 28 years old may be a possible DH replacement for JDM if he opts out for 2022. He suffered a significant hamstring injury July 3rd so with a 6 week healing cycle, he may be back in the 2nd week of August. Not a perfect fir for us now but can give us more than our other current options going forward. a good pickup for the Sox, but we still need a first baseman and a starter. Bloom is down to 4 pm today to improve the team and possibly rid ourselves of assets we don't wish to keep in any case.

Thank you for saying that.....it's very true.

I'm IU alum. His group was responsible for turning the program around. We used to be really, really bad. He caught and batted second in college.

He's 2nd on this team in OPS at .910 behind Devers and in front of JDM and Bogaerts. Yeah, that's an upgrade.

Can we just go get Santana too ? Leave Kyle to play the OF !!! Bloom answers Big Time !!!!!

No we cannot. Sorry. MLB rules prevent teams from acquiring multiple players who play the same position in the same calendar year. The fear is hoarding will create monopolies. Also, they fear Sherman Anti-Trust laws…

Yes, but I thought that was just for the Yankees. There are good trusts and bad trusts, and we're the good guys.........we are the good guys....right?

Weird to add a lefty bat. You’ve got some good lefty hitters and your park is difficult for them. I’d have though Aguilar since he’s got light tower power and could utilize it with the monster in LF

Schwarber has never played first?

DFA Plawecki. Trade Vaz.

Starting C is Schwarber with Wong on the bench.

And who starts at C until Kyle is healthy?

Rockies say they have no plans to trade Gray. How do ya like them apples?

Good, he can stay there IMO.

Also, I don't want Bard back either.
