Yankees did get better. Their first base production was worse than the Sox's.

They got worse after 2021 and are not a top 4 fave in the AL.

I love it!

They seem to be sending better talent to make up for not having to pay for 2021 salaries of players they've acquired.

Berrios would be an example where the consolation prize beats the grand prize.

(I'm pulling for Jon Gray and Carlos Santana.)

I am one that likes Jon Gray. I would love the addition.

They are the WC team we likely face and Now you get to see Rizzo and Gallo ....Chaim just got Humiliated by Cash .

Those are two losing moves by Cash. He's desperate, and it shows.

If Bloom gets Gray & Santana, we get better by more than the Yanks and will give up less to get them.

Calm down.

Bloom da man.

Cashman added the two best available left-handed bats for no money while holding his best prospects. I am far from calling either move bad or desperate, let alone combining them.

Plus now he can move Voit to backfill some of the miniscule farm depletion.

I don’t expect Voit to move until almost the deadline, so as to prevent his new team from flipping him to Boston…

No top prospects because these guys weren't worth them.

He did give up some decent farm hands.

I'm glad they went buyer vs seller. Super glad.

Bloom will do something.

Better.

Do an ERA- or + study on Gray from 2021, 2020-2021 or 2019-2020.Better yet, just look at my data I provided.

It's all about run prevention numbers.

Gray is better than 3-4 or our starters in any time period after 2018.

Rodriguez, Perez, Pivetta, Richards. I don’t trust any of these guys which is why they need starting pitching.

Yes, it's always about SP'ing.

The Dodgers and Padres know this.

The Yanks go bats. Silly Yanks!

Dumb Cashman.

His 2021 FIP, xFIP and SIERA don't look good, they all suggest his ERA should be higher. His BABIP is a good indicator of that. His BABIP and our IF is the perfect recipe of a time bomb.

Gray's xFIP= 4.25. He was even worse last season. I would keep away from Gray. I would rather use Houck in the rotation, definitely E-Rod too.

Berrios is a different story. He is worth trading for.

As far as Rizzo goes, if the Red Sox wanted him bad enough, they could have easily topped the Yankees offer. With that said, Alacantara isn't a terrible prospect.

Just seeing your post now -- beat me to it.

IMO if they make a move at all, they need to add an arm at the top of the rotation, otherwise I would stay as it is. We have plenty at the middle-bottom.

Chaim watching the Yankees blow up their farm system for a lifetime .211 hitter with a career K% of 36.7 when the league average is 23.6%.

Agreed. If the Red Sox can't get Berrios or Scherzer, I would go after a bullpen upgrade.

The Dodgers acquired Danny Duffy for a player to be named later. I guess that means no one wanted Duffy? I don't know but Duffy is injured and that probably mitigated interest.

Looks like the Dodgers are pushing hard for Scherzer and Turner from the Nats. Very active trade deadline this year. More to come for sure.

Wow, the Dodgers are going all in this year like no one has seen since the heyday of George Steinbrenner.

Seems like the money is the least of their concerns, and Bloom's mentor is who is making the calls there.

Jon Gray would not be a minor upgrade or sideways move...

It's all about timing.

That's why this is not the year to go all in and try to top teams like LAD and SDP.

Had we gotten Rizzo and Berrios, we'd still fall way short of LAD,

If the Dodgers acquire Turner, what happens to Seager? I know Seager was injured but I thought he was on the way back? Also, Seager is a free agent after the season, could the Dodgers be cutting ties with him?

I think you should look at the whole picture moon. ERA-/+ is a great stat but it only adjusts league/park flaws which is not a minor thing, but it doesn't isolate Pitcher's abilities and luck like FIP does, it doesn't normalize HRs like xFIP does, and it doesn't consider BABIP like SIERA does.

Said that, if you put all the later in a mixer, I don't think is a good idea land Gray.

If Bloom wants to do something meaningful, he will need to part with prospects or eat salary, or a combination of the two. Certainly, the Red Sox have some overrated prospects who will never amount to much in the Bigs.

So, Gray's been lucky three straight years. Got it.

Look, I'm not saying he's great. He's better than what we have. That was my point.

He's no Scherzer or Berrios. I never said he was.
