Tyler Dearden has a 987 OPS in Greenville. I wonder if he's up for a promotion in late July.

Are they doing an all star game for High A?

@alexspeier

I believe both Triston Casas and Jarren Duran are slated to join Team USA in pre-Olympic workouts in mid-July in NC - same week as the Futures Game. Certainly possible that timing played into their absence from the Futures Game, though may also have reflected roster composition.

@SoxProspects

Joe Davis homered again for the @salemredsox in the team's 9-7 win yesterday. He's been on something of a tear recently and is now slashing .319/.367/.576 with eight home runs and 37 RBI.

Groome's Last six starts are very encouraging: 33.2 IP, 3.74 ERA, 15BB, 46K (May 22-June 26).

The goal this year is for Groome to stay healthy and pitch, build up innings, and show improvement. So far, so good. I think he stays in Greenville for the entire season.

If he continues on his current trajectory, Groome will start next season in Double A and will hopefully take a big step forward in terms of performance, get those walk numbers down in particular. Groome will be 23 years old for most of next season, and so he is still young enough to be considered a quality pitching prospect, but he needs to remain healthy, continue getting strikeouts, and reduce the walk totals.

There is still reason to believe that Groome can be a quality major league starting pitcher.

I was beginning to wonder if we even protect him from rule 5, so this good news

I was down on him recently, but reports are that his stuff is ticking back up.

There is still a chance they risk not protecting him.

It's really nice to see Groome turn things around. I think he can even be better than he's showing right now. I remember in one of his games I think he walked a couple of guys consecutively and the last one of 4 straight pitches, the pitching coach came out to the mound and he immediately locked it down struck a few guys out, and got out of the inning. That suggests the struggles he does have are fixable, and that's a good sign. He's still a young arm learning how to pitch.

I'm not saying he's not tradeable, but I think we can hold this stock a little longer and sell higher (or develop him).

It's always nice when a guy who was nearly written off turns out not to be a writeoff.

Not long ago, I wondered if we’d even rule 5 protect him!

I wrote him off like two weeks ago. That’s the mvp lock of the summer!

The great Brayan Bello will pitch in the Futures game on Sunday.

Another excellent start for Groome: 5.1 IP, 1 hit, 2 ER, 2 Walks, 9 Ks.

Might they have faced exceptional pitching?

They faced 29yo career minor leaguer Mark Appel, a man who has redefined the phrase “Draft Bust”…

Seabold debuted in FCL yesterday:

It was a rare contest under the lights for the FCL Sox, and the on-field events were worthy of the event. Connor Seabold, out since the start of the season with right elbow inflammation, took the mound in a rehab start against fellow rehabbing hurler Chris Archer. Seabold, currently ranked 6th in the system, went 2 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on one hit. Seven of the eight outs he recorded were via strikeout. Seabold also walked three and hit a batter.

In addition: Brainer Bonaci got on base 5 times, Blaze hit a walk off, Winkelman Gonzalez through 5 perfect innings. The DSL Blue Sox won their first game, Juan Chacon hit a lead off triple and walked, Sierra and Salazar went yard.
